Has anyone else noticed this and does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks.

Allowing a Kies update mid-task is not a good thing to do. Better to reject the update and go ahead with what you were doing, then read around about the Kies update reputation, etc.
I'd "fix it" by completely removing all things Kies from my device and PC/laptop, then going to the main Samsung Kies site for the download of the latest for your device.
If you're in the U.S.: SAMSUNG KIES
