Notsure WI Fi is not detecting...

When i try to use wifi in my mobile it is not at all detecting. I tried using connnectify s/w in windows by making my laptop as wifi hot spot. But my mobile (Galaxy Y) is not detecting any wifi network. My friends mobile Nokia is able to detect it and able to use that wifi.

What will be the reason for not detecting wifi?

Thanks in advance

Android doesn't detect ad-hoc networks..
For file transfer you can try ES file explorer
or try this [TOOL] Enable ad-hoc tethering on Android (ad hoc, adhoc) - xda-developers
