My PC wont recognize my Samsung Gem via USB cable.

I recently got a Samsung Gem running on Android 2.2 and I went to plug it into the PC running on windows 7 via USB cable and it doesn't recognize the phone. I have plugged in another android phone and it immediately recognizes the phone and starts installing device drivers. When I plug in the Gem it just charges it and does nothing else. I have tried checking and unchecking USB debugging and it makes no difference. It also makes no difference which USB port I plug into.

Install Samsung Kies if you haven't done so already. It's connection troubleshooter might fix things.

have you figured out a way to download itunes on your samsung gem
