New Firmware
If I were to want to upload some firmware, where would be the best place to do so? Looked at rapidshare but it seems to be quite limited for free accounts, thanks A.

Sorry yes, didn't realise it wasn't out. I've deleted my post and would appreciate if you'd edit the link out of yours?

I was only asking,
So is it official firmware? what country was it from?
This is not an official forum and most links are to firmware that is not out in certain countries yet,
Just wondering how we can get hold of more in the future!

hehe, sorry, multitasking! Must Drink More Caffeine!
OK it's the UK release with the O2 CSC (if that floats your boat?) as for any good, well the Galaxy is my tertiary phone really so who knows - it powers up and makes phone calls which is working in my book, but I'll be interested to hear (and I really hope) it's an improvement on II5 which I found a bit sluggish.
Remember to do a hard reset after updating won't you.

Waiting for input from those brave ppl who dare to Odin that thing up before I'll do it myself. Is it worth it, any bugs fixed or new functionalities?

Had the same error. You just have to try a couple of times. Takes a while too before it's all downloaded. Having it now and will flash it with Odin in a minute to see what happens.
Edit: ok so there's a different boot image, no more Android just a blinking Samsung sign and a new keyboard which I think Samsung has built in. No further differences as far as I can tell right now.

I remember someone posting recently about sources of this new firmware and it was mentioned there could be some improvement to unlock button performance issues.

Under Settings->Mobile Networks appears a new option called "Dial up Networks" that was not previously. Anyone knows what this could be for?

Samsung custom keyboard is a total disaster. Judging by the screenshots, they've put back the original Android kbd as an option.

I just put the new firmware, everything went well, as expected.
I noticed improvements in performance and unlock button, I noticed also that already brings more dictionaries and a new keyboard.
Anybody know specifically what were the improvements, without being the most obvious? Is there any log somewhere?

I don't feel any unlock button improvement when the phone's not connected to mains.
It would be good if the improvement was referred to the camera button when the phone's locked though.

bitxboi , the improvement in the unlock button is minimal or even null, maybe it's just the system faster, I do not know, that's why I like to see the change log.

As I recall this (the market problem) happens with every new fw, as Google has to authorize it in market. Or something like that...

I flashed without CSC, could it be related to that? Or just the firmware version?

@ informale: You're right. Forgot about this however because of the long time that passed since the last update. With I5 it didn't take so long so fingers crossed.
How do I choose between the keyboards? somehow I can't switch back to the basic Android keyboard.

It has nothing to do with CSC. Just the firmware. The market works perfectly with Galaxo and GalaxHero roms with no CSC at all.

I should have done a backup, now is doing it all again
After installation IK4, I can not put the recovery of drakaz. The ADB does not recognize the phone.

I like samsung's updates. Oh i forgot to mention the keyboard.

Yep. No offence to Koreans (and Japanese, and Chinese...), but just about anything they do seems to be totally spoiled by a bunch of multicolour lights, leds and other "design" features

Or? And the keyboard lets me choose languages when writing SMSs thats nice.
And I have impression that GPS fix was really fast, but I have to retest a bit...

I just tried it and I have to say Compass seems to be pointing north a lot faster than it used to.
Besides imho I believe the device is way faster downloading with wifi and installing apps (those who are available..) from the market. Anyone else noticed this?
