I find it amusing that they can now run Android on Windows phones

Android Update on the Touch Pro2 (it Rocks!)

yet we've only just got an "almost working" version of 1.6 on our built for Android Samsung Galaxies.

Seems I should have gotten an HD2, best of both worlds.

No, he meant galaxy, coz in second post he says that he is uploading spica firmware and wanted to give galaxy users info(which he said that android 2.0 is been tested in previous link) after drhyperkallich asked for clarification.

Another point to take, spica has already got 2.1 why would samsung will test 2.0 in spica? So it must be Galaxy.

I was just coming here with this info - I'm inclined to believe they meant ours too - usually very careful about that, and the context as above...
Still, not that hopeful.

Still... http://samsung-firmware.webs.com/apps/forums/topics/show/2220188-samsung-i7500-android-2-x-

and assuming it's true that they are "testing 2.x" for the galaxy, doesn't mean they'll release one - maybe their test show that their build is too heavy to run on the galaxy

GAOSP runs faster than than any 1.5, so it has to do with marketing and business strategy if they don't release eclair for i7500.

Perhaps they are waiting Myriad Dalvik turbo or JIT compiler to be released so that galaxy wont have performance issues with eclair.

Galaxy doesn't have additional issues running eclair regarding speed or general performance.

From the article, courtesy of Google Translate:
Quote:
Verizon Motorola Droid will be updated by OTA, starting Thursday 18 March [...].

But it is not the only one who has the last word, Samsung announced shortly an update for its Samsung handsets and [Samsung Galaxy and Samsung Galaxy Spica].

It will be available this month in Germany, to go gradually to other countries to gradually make this update.

The update will not be via OTA, but will be available on Samsung's website and will be made through its software that brings the handset, PC Studio 7.

With this update Samsung include applications preinstalled and some differences to other versions of Android 2.1.

Some improvements:
- 9 screens will be available desktop
- New widgets
- Application of Augmented Reality owner
- New multimedia player application.
- The camera has been improved and offers new features and image viewing options.
- Better contacts management with the possibility of sending SMS and MMS directly from the agenda.
...I'll believe it when I see it!

Someone who speak spanish should ask author to tell source of this article. Since we know they are testing it, we could see it eventualy? Maybe?
The thing that bothers me is if they are testing why dont we ser betas on android-firmwares? We can only see betas of 1.6
They didnt publish beta of 1.6 for Spica... so...

I don't think they're a bunch of idiots. Because during MWC they posted this [MWC 2010] Samsung Beam I8520 y actualizaciones para Samsung Galaxy | and.roid.es

Camera doesn't work currently, it should hopefully be fairly easy once Samsung release the source for 1.6 though.

Why? You mean you're dissappointed that 2.1 on Spica s*cks big time, which is we should not expect anything good for i7500 (if anyone's still wating, hehe)?

CONS:

* Inadequate sunlight legibility (not an OS issue)
* No ambient light and proximity sensors (works on 1.5?)
* Erratic performance under Android 2.1 (noticeable lag in some apps) (CPU issue)
* No Live Wallpapers (easily portable)
* No 3D view in the gallery (easily portable)
* No preloaded document viewer (easily portable)
* No multi-touch support (hw issue)
* CIF video recording is below par (hw issue)
* No Flash support for the web browser (same as 1.5)
* No two-position camera shutter key, slow autofocus (not an OS issue)
* Average loudspeaker performance (not an OS issue)

my comments in brackets. I'd be quite happy if they bring this kinda bad 2.1 fw for i7500.
