* Erratic performance under Android 2.1 (noticeable lag in some apps) (CPU issue)
By the way: 'Ha ha!' (c) Nelson from The Simpsons
That proves that i75000 processor is better, as I recall mustymod users did not have erratic performance.

on the other hand users of donut (including me) have experienced erratic performance in i7500, so it's quite possible that musty's rom was just better coded than the spica 2.1 update
plus the word erratic would suggest that the problem is indeed in bad programming rather than insufficient hardware

I must say, the guy that tried to prove that Spica's CPU is better was right. No reason to try to prove otherwise. For once and for all, Spica has a faster CPU. Here is some proof: Samsung Spica I5700 C5Bench http://www.c5bench.com/results/ (top are fastest, bottom are slowest) Benchmark Tests C5Bench (tests are explained)
To sum it up. Spica with 2.1 had a sum of 454fps, 1.5 Spica had a sum of 331fps. i7500 uses the same CPU as Magic, Dream or Hero. Magic had 241, 254, 255fps, Dream had 252, 258fps and Hero had 309, 319fps.
There was a debate that i7500 has dual core. It has infact, one ARM11 at 528MHz and one underclocked ARM9 at 250MHz. But ARM9 is used ONLY for radio and is not available to the OS. So it's of no use when we look at the benchmarks.
Spica's CPU does indeed have one core. Radio probably has a dedicated chip, something like iPhone which probably is a stadnard ARM9. Galaxy's dual core should, as I mentioned, be taken with a pinch of salt because the other core isn't available for every day usage.
Anyway, this is Spica's CPU: SAMSUNG's Digital World
It's clocked to 800MHz. It even has dedicated 3D acceleration capable of OpenGL ES 2.0, like the Droid.

I suffered from that too, then I installed SetCPU (edit: requires root) and set the CPU clock to quickly scale up to 520MHz when needed. And the lowest clock is at 120MHz when it sleeps.
You can download setcpu from the xda boards.

GAOSP has been stalled for a while, there are minor things that can be fixed now, but there's not much point in working on it until the 1.6 sources are released.
Just bought a Legend 2 hours ago. Best 2 hours I have had in a while. The cpu may only be a bit more powerful but this phone is so much more responsive I can't believe it. The Sense UI is really well thought out. I am selling this to a friend so I will keep up with the news in case I can help her update. But thanks everyone for the help.

How long does your battery last?
I updated my Galaxy to Mustymod 2.1 and my battery barely lasts a day of normal use (sms, little talk, mostly standby).

I've had it for 13 hours now. Battery indicator hasn't moved much. Didn't install any tools to check. Anything you want me to do to test for you? (aside from rooting or new roms--at least not yet...)
I had the oportunity to work with both HTC Magic and HTC Hero. Both of those phones are miles better than the Galaxy. Responsive interface etc. I'm currentlz on Galaxo 1.6.2 and this is and epic fail. So much lag that appears from thin air, non functional browser whis is extremely slow and stops for no reason, and I'm using SetCPU. Both Magic and Hero have 288MB RAM and are much better hones than this piece of junk. Since the Legend is even better than those two, I can only dream what the experience would be like.
I fooled around with a Hero when I bought the Legend. Hero was certainly smoother than the Galaxy but the Legend is really something else entirely. It may be the OS update but it is smooth and fast and responsive. Not quite iphone standard but so much better that I don't miss my Galaxy for a minute. it has 384MB of ram. I love the Sense UI improvements. Exchange support worked out of the box and I was reading work emails from home right away. Battery was low when I got home from work after moderate use. I am starting to think that all of these smartphones with big screens have crappy battery life compared to what i was used to before (50 dollar sony ericsson). I still can't get google maps working with gprs so i am guessing this is a china mobile/android thing. it works for everyone else outside of china and in china it works for everyone i know that doesn't use android.
I'm using Opera Mini 5. But it's Javascript has flaws (counter on megaupload doesn't work) and when I return to Home and try to go back to Opera it doesn't save the state but rather starts again and opens the home page. And you can't make Opera your default browser so QR web sites will open in normal browser.
Today I almost had to remove the battery after I started Shazam. It completely stopped and started to give me popups "Messaging has stopped, Force Stop or Wait", "Beautiful Widgets has stopped, ..." "Handcent has stopped, ...". It gives me these popups every time it has to do something more complex, like Market, Browser. I'm switching back to IK5 this weekend. Hate this piece of junk.
I'm considering doing a little project - "Will it blend? Samsung Galaxy.". But I'm still not prepared to destroy my phone. If Samsung completely stops supporting, I may consider giving this idea a go. DD Something like this:
Device(s): i7500@galax0-1.6.3.4
OC@710mhz
HTC Desire - never ending modding

1 month since they brought jc6 they have released source code. thats pretty fast tbh.
people go on and on so much about things that they forget that while samsung are crap and comms they actually do give updates depending on carrier and they are quicker than htc for source releases.
we had out 1.5 sources before htc had for the hero and hero was out for like 6months before lol.

anyways this is nothing but a good thing
To be more precise, JB2 which was also 1.6 leak was 'released' two months ago, I don't think that was pretty fast.
You must take note that Hero is much better performing device (better performance, better GUI, more RAM, more stable, no "no sleep" bugs, ...) so the need for better firmware wasn't that high as on i7500.

its still on 1.5
it took them nearly 9 months to release their 1.5 sources
we have our 1.6 sources 1 month after official release
as much as i hate samsung i cant see how people can moan about that

hero could be classed as never as it hasnt even got 1.6. dont tell me they couldnt have done something in the intrim, theyve had plenty of time also.
theyve also pushed back 2.1
when you compare, samsungs failure has been communication and flakey software. not updates and sources

i can't see how you can congratulate samsung for giving us 1.6 seven months after official release, and 1.6 full of insomnia bugs. yeah, we got sources soon after binaries, but because they must provide sources, not because they like.

Bear in mind officially we haven't in any comparison of this nature.
I'm the same though - any sort of communication from Samsung could have avoided this will we/won't we/JESUS CHRIST I HATE SAMSUNG situation developing

so do htc, they didnt they took over half a year
software has bugs, samsungs are annoying somewhat but its dependant on how the carrier reports bugs back to samsung also.
later versions of 1.5 had fewer bugs and became quite stable. 1.6 is new to this model and a bug fix will need to be restarted.
how can they start bugfixing it when the releases only came out last month and made official a few weeks ago?
listen, im only being comparative and fair. samsung get on my nerves but im different, i dont cry about stuff when there is nothing set in stone. instead i go with what i see and obtain and that is Samsung are crap at coms but a quite fast at producting firmware updates and sources dependent on carrier acknowledgement of the software
