I'm quite happy by now, this works much better than I expected. Outgoing voice quality being the biggest issue.

Ill keep it for a bit, to test more. if anyone have questions, here i am.

Can you find and install Google Goggles? That's the real test if it's actual 2.0, or just skinned!

I know the camera doesnt work yet on the ROM, but u shud at least be able to install goggles..

it's definately not a skin. goggles are unavailable on the market, maps 3.3.1 crashes so i'm back to 3.2.x
good things:
-lock screen is faster, nicer, shows battery % when charging, screen unlocks faster than on stock Roms
- browser is improved
- market as well
- battery % is more realistic, yellow indicator appears much before shutdown
- swap is not enabled in the kernel, kernel is 2.6.27 but no evidence that musty used drakaz' sources, nor which update is used. room is rooted, but there's no superuser whitelist app, no busybox

....

If it does boot up, it's not a brick yet ) Have you tried flashing back to stock ROM?

I have to say that I'm kinda new to this whole business. Guess I didn't take any backups of the rom. Is it possible to obtain the stock rom somewhere else?

You should always have a backup before you start fiddling with your gadgets. This is holy bloody rule number one )))

Help yourself with links to IK5 stock ROM from this topic:
IK5 - latest official firmware is out on NPC for Italy!

Basicly yes. But if you speak a little loud, there is no problem. I'm more worried about the battery than the calls quality

ah, guess my expectations for "a list of un/supported features" were a tad too high :P

tho' my questions are still more or less answered; unsatisfying call-quality, no gps, no bt, nonfunctioning handsfree, defective sync, external sd not supported etc.
i'm thinking it'll be a while 'till this thing can be seriously considered as a replacement even for the standard cupcake k4

For most people yeah. External SD should be working now though.

Personally I can live without BT (since it's useless to me right now on Android 1.5), handsfree, and sync since I don't use them anyway. GPS would be very nice but at least cell tower location thing is working.

I'd still prefer to use the lock button for something, even if it's not to lock the screen. We have that extra button and I want to use it damn it!

People this ROM is work in progress so don't expect to much at the moment. It's heading the right way, but there is just so much one man can do. Be patient. Definitely don't update until the accelerometer starts working

I tested this ROM one day and this is my short conclusion. This ROM is in an early stage of development. You cannot use this ROM in everyday use. Everything that work on this ROM work without any problems (many things don’t work at all). The biggest problem is poor battery life. When you work with phone you can see how battery percentage is going down.
I am very interested in future ROMs so I am here if you need somebody to test new ROMs.

interesting, battery life seems very similar to IK4, but there is a change how remaining battery is calculated, it's more realistic now imho.

Phone/sms, 3g/wifi, browser/rss readers work, I'm keeping it.

Mustymod now on blog too: Mustymod's Blog

Although it seems because he lives in Turkey PayPal wont let him use it! so with that said he is saying he isnt going to continue working on the ROM until he has some "motivation" assumptively I'd guess Money is the driving factor (I dont blame him of course as this kind of work is time consuming). Never the less it seems that isn't for the love :-)

Good question, and admittedly very sad that the motivation behind the ROM seems to be driven only by the profitability of making the ROM possible.

As I say I know I'd like and appreciate donations if it was me doing this but it wouldn't stop me from developing it for people to use and enjoy. It seems odd that since people mentioned "Donations" that mustymods motivation has switched.

I guess we'll see what happens, would be good to know how he has use libsec-ril though!

Turkey paypal supports withdraw from paypal to bank account so instead 'donate' he could've used 'send'.

maybe so but the motivation concerns me,
he did it off his back before and then loads of people lobby an interest of donating and now hes saying "im not working on it if i dont get money (motivation)"
in a way i can understand as he could earn alot of money from donors but the issue is that the gear has shifted and his interests have changed.
that makes me question his motive and even what could be put into the rom that we dont know about

I agree Andronix,

I found this: Google Translate

Not sure if its anything that can be used or info taken from just looking for clues about how the libsec-ril was hacked up.

I'm a Linux engineer / developer by trade so I am interested in helping in some small way if there's a way to help. Never done anything with android so need to do some research :-)

What's involved in cooking a ROM?

[edit]
looks like they're saying to use the radio lib from cupcake and that he possibly missed something in the configs to disable CDMA support which is possibly what was causing crashes when he was testing it, note that their is not CDMA support on the mustymod ROM? coincidence? Probably not!
[/edit]

As a totally seperate effort to mustmod, we've joined teams with the french guys (fandroid). There's now a project page

http://dev.sfhost.net/projects/show/i7500

And an svn. They've only just been created so its all empty at the moment.

We've also merged channels on irc (irc.freenode.com #i7500). Finally a co-ordinated effort

PLEASE join us if you want to help, hang around, keep us company, or would like to help us in developing and want SVN access.

This'll be the last double post to keep this topic upto date. We'll create a seperate thread about this particular version when there's something to release

Umm.. we're kind of already gathering money for a Galaxy for Drakaz )
Seriously, those two should should coordinate, otherwise each one individually would be wasting so much time, imho.

btw my reaction wasn't about money, it was about double standard.. anyway i'll continue to do my job...
Obviously we don't know if that's an excuse, but, again, you cannot blame him. Imagine how he must have been disappointed when it turned out that he wouldn't be able to accept any donations through PayPal.
