Sounds that your system makes when u connect/disconnect USB and mount/unmount your phone on your PC. You can use the settings in Settings -> Sound & Display -> SD Card Notifications to turn it on or off.
Unfortunately even if it is turned off in my phone, it still issues an audible notification. Did not have this problem with earlier firmwares (IK4, IK5)
If you have an unlock pattern when you hit unlock button it doesn't display the lock screen but only the pattern. While this makes it easier to unlock I miss the clock from the unlock screen, now I have to look at the small one in the notification bar...

- one of the following applications kept the phone awake the whole day: Google Goggles, MyTracks, Compass, Advanced Task Manager or Flashlight. I wasn't able

Hi guys (watching you for a long time but registered just today)..
I just updated my galaxy to 1.6 (fw JB2) and I just noticed that when I receive a call or sms from a contact that I have registered in Contacts without the International prefix, the phone just shows the number with the prefix and not the contact name or pic.
For example:
I have John registered in contacts with mobile number: 69xxxxxxx (and contact name: John)
When he calls me, the phone shows me that +3069xxxxxxx calls me but does n't show me that it's John.

Not sure if this qualifies as a bug, but the volume switch no longer reverses when the phone is in the landscape (sideways) mode. In 1.5 the function of the switch reversed to match the direction of the slider on screen when tilted.
1.5: volume increase = ↑ (portrait) or → (landscape)
1.6: volume increase = ↑ (portrait) or ← (landscape)

music plays through the earpiece, not through the speaker as it should .. games too ..
this happend after i tried placing a call - the earpiece was muted when i called, the first two words the other guy said came from the speaker, then all was silent - i had to turn on the loudspeaker, then i could hear the person speaking. weird ..
i had to reboot to get it back to normal

That's why I always store numbers as the full international version of the number.

even i suspect on goggles. Ever since after installing it, whenever i connect wifi, browse for sometime then put the wifi off and lock it. It never sleeps and only solution to make it sleeps is to restart the phone.
No, it was not goggles, actually it was useful switcher app that makes my phone awake.
After i uninstalled useful switcher and restart the phone, then i used goggles for sometime to make sure it's not the app which making trouble, then i locked. After sometime Spare parts didn't show any increase in time so i guess problem is solved for the time being for me.

Just upgraded my wife's phone, and she has some sort of pixel noise going on on the screen now. Did a factory reset before and after install. The noise appears to be neon green single pixels scattered around the screen. When a touch is registered on the screen, the pixels seem to randomly jump to a new location.
Anyone else having this problem? My phone seems fine.
A very strange issue. The phone does not connect to my WiFi router when it is connected via USB to my computer
I have the same issue on 1.5. I opened a topic on this a month ago. No solution found.
A few days ago it worked for a few hours, but I could not figure out exactly what I did to make it work. I had the debugging mode enabled/disabled before it did, but I could not make it work again by doing the same thing.
I suspect it's a pc driver problem. A different driver is used while on debugging mode.
Advanced Task Killer is installed, ill have a look with adb. Otherwise ill do a wipe and see what happens. Settings also appears to run after wake up lol.

I can confirm this too. I received a phone call from parents this evening and no contact name popped up. The number displayed on the caller ID had the 08 prefix (South Australia), while its saved in my phone without it.

For me it doesnt auto (re)connect while plugged into USB. I can still navigate to WiFi in the menu and connect manually.

Yes, phone is making sounds each time I connect or disconnect the USB, despite changing the setting.
The worst of all, I had none of the above issues with 1.5. Grrr.. In a sense I feel like this is step backwards.
My problems so far:
-Voice search is non responsive. After updating Maps to 4.0 I haven't managed to complete a single voice search. App doesn't start or registers my voice but does nothing or simply freezes.
-Navigation part of Google Maps does work in Australia. Firstly, there is no easy way of launching it as Maps keeps giving me direction same way as version 3 did. Even after installing Nav Launcher I couldn't get it working as it kept telling something along the lines route not possible after which app exits.
The only thing I gained by the upgrade (that works) is the contact suggestion in the Messaging app when adding recipient. I can type first couple of characters of contacts name and get suggestions underneath.
Just noticed: if you disable the auto sync via power widget, it also disable the background Data settings.
It's kinda annoying since i have this always on for the market. Dunno if its a bug or intended, but its strange having always the sync icon activated at the homescreen, even that you dont have the autosync on.
Edit:
Wifi is spamming my Log. (while enabled) (It works, so also not really bug. just annyoing too *g*)

for me the worst problem on 1.6 is that after some time the phone doesn't stay in a sleep mode. I assume it happens after handsfree usage in my car. Can someone confirm similar problem after handsfree usage ?
Also I have a feeling that firmware leaks are made by purpose by samsung. So we are unofficial beta (alfa?) testers. I feel SamsungFirmware account is made for this purpose.
I notice the whole phone slowing down gradually from instalation ,opening settings the page now takes 3/4 seconds to show and scrolling is a nightmare either it sticks or runs all the way down to the bottom of the page, have tried the usual fixes freeing memory etc... I get the feeling Samsung has dropped this firmware on us to beta test before they make it official
Sorry Nexus6 I was slow writting my post and I see you thought the same thing almost at the same time

@ryko @Nexus6 I too see a slowdown after use. Just after installing the firmware the phone was very responsive, but after 2 days of use I cannot say the same. Freaking opening the SMS app takes a couple of seconds !!! Same story with settings or any other thing that I open ! I am really beginning to get irritated of this !
What exactly did we get extra with 1.6 that we could not do without ? I just just might go back to IK5

It's not slow for me yet But I didn't notice any speed improvements after 1.5 as well.
I made an upgrade to 1.6 because of human nature - curiosity I would like to see new G.maps and goggles
Let's stop arguing but continue to troubleshoot and to test Samsung products for free

Same here. I'd add that the music player also got noticeably slower, taking longer to start up and to respond to play command than on my previous firmware (IK5).
Pretty much everything slowed down after one day of use, in my case with
literally no apps installed (I did a factory reset after first experiencing the "no
sleep" bug and didn't install anything since).
I'll keep this firmware for a bit longer because I want to test the new Google
Maps (which I haven't been able to acquire yet) but afterwards I'm switching
to IL3 until they release a fast 1.6 firmware.

You are right guys...I have the same problems.
After factory reset it was indeed quite snappy but after just a few hours things got noticeably slower. Just try to scroll in the market while a program is being installed. You will not be able to but you could do that with any firmware until now.
Google goggles not working, voice search not working, power control widget is nice but buggy, battery life is poor (worse than ik5) and there are so many other bugs reported in this thread...
This is the slowest and buggiest firmware yet. They have no shame.
I just hope samsung will release soon the damn source code so the GAOSP team could use it to build a REAL firmware (not just an alfa like JB2)
I tend to reboot now and then, helps when your phone is rooted and you can just use root manager to do so. When I check the memory usage, with no apps open, when the phone has just booted, there is about 33mb free. Eventually, it becomes 20 something mb. Rebooting frees that up again and it's responsive again.
I dont know if only in my device but Waze (GPS Software) is so slow now with the 1.6 version..

Waze runs well until you click a button or anything that makes a sound - this starts to generate so much errors per second that it kills the phone until waze is closed (via 'exit', home button won't help)

Hi guys (watching you for a long time but registered just today)...
You have very good forum here, and without your knowledge base I would be moron about Android OS (in general, after that in flashing firmware ).
Anyway, to stop being OT - here is my two cents about phone slowness after 1.6 update:
If you experience that phone gradually over time of being used, then you have checked in Settings under Security & Location -> Use wireless networks and Share with Google. So, uncheck them!
p.s- I have the same issue before unchecking that options, now the OS flying!!! Ahh, yes... excuse me if my english is wrong - I am SERBIAN.

As a programmer, I'm quite tolerant of mistakes. They can and do happen to
the best of us. However, building a firmware for a phone is not like building a
generic operating system (think Windows) which has to run on millions of
combinations of hardware.
Samsung are building software (firmware) for a known hardware device, their
own to boot. They should really be able to do it properly.

Unless I've gone crazy after working for 12 hours today (it's 1 AM here now),
this really seems to work. Thanks!
I suspect that one of those services (or both) is filling some log with errors or
something. Perhaps a memory leak? If someone finds another setting that
improves performance, be sure to let us know!
