After the last firmware update the sound was pretty low,so i wanted to increase the volume... tried the volume hack but it did not increase the headphone volume, only the handset volume..... this is kinda a hardware fix...
Do this at your own risk
first close musi app
then open dailer an type :
*#197328640#*
this will open service mode
here click [8] audio
then click [2] headset
then click [2] rx value
then click [5] rx codec for midi
then click [1] rx codec gain:
then pres menu key, key input, and type in 5fff , this increases the gain to about 4db,wich is in my opinion the best option
after u inputed the value pres menu key and select end.
no restart needed, just open music player and press play and you will see the differences
I was about to sell my i7500 because of lack of headphone volume but now im happy...
i think this will work with i5700 and moment, haven;t tried it though!
Sorry bout my english!

i hope this works
you should post this to DRakaz on his website if it works as he could implement it into his fix
EDIT:
i cannot access service mode with the command you listed
EDIT 2: i think drakaz must have removed the services menu

tried the command. . . Was also able to update the value of "rx codec gain".
But really didnt notice a great deal of improvement in the headset volume. . .
Is there any value i can try to increase the volume further ??
Btw, does this hack also affect the "in call volume" on the headset ??
Does this hack remain effective after rebooting the phone or does it need to be done again once the phone is rebooted ???
hi, i'm running JC6 and i've just did the volume trick, trying different thresholds. Currently i'm going to test new settings... and volume is much more louder compared to default ones!
Currently trying with FFFF, 12 dB level.
Here you can find a short conversion table (i hope it's accurate since decibel are following logaritmic scale) starting from percentage, then converting percentage to integer, then integer to hexadecimal and finally decibel.
Use it at your own risk...
i'm guessing if the same could be applied to telephone call headset volume (which is quite low in the default JC6) via RX Codec volume parameters (service mode list 6 different settings)

(i'm using new headset thersholds both for music and in call volumes)
@wizzent,
i too tested it . . .the settings seems to stay on even after a reboot !!
however, i really didnt find any difference this setting made to the incall volume of the headset . .
did u try something else to increase the incall volume for the headset ??

well... about music player i have to say i have noted improvements as soon as i have modified the thresholds, while i'm still "playing" for in call volume settings in order to find a good one. shortly i will be driving home and i will make a couple of call with my headsets on, hope to give better feedback soon.

I too have made a few tweaks to the handset "tx gain" and other settings . .
i too ll try and test these settings changes . .
lets hope that some setting will improve the incall volume in the headset
i think my new in call volume settings are better compared to the default one (i am now using FFFF / 12 dB).
i was able to make a couple of phone calls while driving without listening issues (only a small distortion when volume is at max)
in any case, i think the right parameters to touch are those under "rx gain" menu instead of "tx gain".
Next line says...
Extract servicemodeapp.zip and put this in "/data/app_s"
but i could only find /data on my galaxo..is this da same drakaz referring to...
do i need to add a new folder with name "apps" ?
Does increasing db level damage the hardware?? What level everyone set for their 'headset' phone??
I tried the levels: 4 db (5fff) and 6 db (7fff). Both are pretty good; 4 db is loud enough to overlap traffic noise, not sure about train & subway; 6 db is EXTREMELY loud, my ear still ringing, for train and subway. I did not try 12 db but I m sure with the 12 db .. even a deaf can hear again.

only thing i think it can damage would be blowing your speaker of your headphones
4db is best imo as its loud enough in most if not all situations but doesnt distort unless you are at the max volume
6db is overdriven and is distorting even at low volume
Hi there,I found this place by searching for a solution on my Samsung Wave.I have a problem with the speaker which might have either issues with the hardware of the firmware. The thing is that while making calls it hard to understand a person on the other side. The voice kind a start at low level then increases. Then it is ok when i say something and then when someone on the oter side the same thing happens that the voice starts at low level then goes high.CHaning the f/w hasn't made a difference. On my colleagues phone the guys from the service said that the problem was woth the f/w.I know there is an option for audio ear speaker in the menu *#197328640#* but i just don;t know what to chaneg and where. Is there any1 here that could help me out on this one ?
Oh, this thread is live again
I have a newbie question
I dont understand this step "Extract servicemodeapp.zip in /data/app_s", I used dropbox to put files on SD card (dont have usb cable atm) but i cant see folder data/apps_s, is it stands for folder data on phone memory or sd card?
Further more, i used Galaxo Config to change it

hi,
my microphone is sooo lowwww during the call and during the record sond
Now I use a ROM original "I5500XXKJ3_I5500XXKJ3_I5500XXTIMKJ3_HOME" compatible with KIES,
for the first time it was normal, but when I flash another ROM I have this problem, I tried several ROM for fix the problem but without result, I even returned a 2.1 eclair but without result,
Now I put an original ROM but still the same problem,
the microphone is activated only when I activate the loudspeakers during the call, and also for recording a sound it is sooooo low, you hear nothing
this is the first time I meet a problem with the microphone of my mobile

I would be glad to help you, but...
I don't have Galaxy i5500, but I7500 and also not using original firmware from Samsung (custom ROM user). And this is the part of the forum for I7500.
But I can give you some advice.
Did you try by using a custom ROM based on CyanogenMod 7.2. Maybe you flashed a custom ROM with a buggy DSPmanager. So now try some other custom ROM. For more infos take a look here.
Also if you can post your question there.
If you want to try yourself by using a menu:
look in [1], [3], [6] and [8] and post here their submenu.
You personally need to have a search on numerous headphones and I bet this cheap beats dre shop could be the a single that will suit you most.www.cheapbeatsdreshop.com
