Yeah so that's the latest firmware. NPS has stupid error messages. It means there's no new firmware for that CSC.

Remember syncing etc still doesnt work on NPS.

Hi bitxboy

I flashed without CSC and I lossed my APN too (I thing is not very important because you can re-write in a few minutes or if you don't know the set up you allways can phone your telephone company or asked to someone with conection).

My NPS never worked and I don't know why but i'm using odin and it's ok for me

Regards

NPS only works if:

- You have a CSC already (check by typing *#1234# into the dialer)
- A new firmware is available for your CSC. If say the latest is II5, and you have II5, it may say device not supported.

Odin always works.

Default "Rejected"

I typed in #1234# abd got USSD code running...

Rejected

and an 'OK' button.

I am running XXII5 that I flashed with Odin. What does that mean? Do I need to do anything about it?

Thanks.

I7500XXII5/VIAII5

"Device not supported."

But as I get more comfortable with the phone I am learning some patience. When the updates come, they will come...

Cheers

Are u sure u had a csc before tho? If the phone shows up in NPS (not just the storage devices), then it should offer you an update IF and ONLY IF you have a CSC AND there is an update available for that CSC

Now you have the VIA CSC which is O2 Germany!

Anyway it doesnt matter that much. Just use odin to update to the latest firmware available. I'm still using II8 extracted from 'Wild's device. I have a feeling we've almost maxed out the memory we can get from this thing, except building a ultra small kernel.

so you have II8 firmware??

is there a odin I8 update yet? or is it doin the tricky ones to get it on your galaxy?

is it worth going to I8 over I5 ?? or wait for the J firmware that hopefully shouldnt be too far away, cause we nearly into the K month now

sorry for the question attack, i have been waiting for I8 to hit the streets

Thanks

You have to extract it manually. Its not hard if you've already rooted. Just 3 or 4 lines.

Look for the thread about 'II8 do we need it' or something like that

Default Samsung NEW PC Studio NPS rel 1.3.0 Ij1

Hi, I just got my Samsung i7500 Galaxy and try to connect to the PC,

First my NPS rel 1.2.0 did not accept the phone, I could see it, I could se virtual disk, but not connet to the phone , NPS said Not supported phone,
I went to Update NPS, at it found rel 1.3.0. ij1 which I downloaded and installed.
Then phone still not fully connected, message- this firmware not supported, only supported function is upgrading firmware, well that was easy :-)
go to update, found new firmware version, and NPS downloaded, copied the old version from the phone to PC, and then uploading new firmware,
it went all the way on the PC to 100%! and Success - completed.
However Display on Phone is still showing " UPDATING FIRMWARE" after 2 hours I took the battery out for 5 minutes and put it back in, and the phone goes back to "Upgrading screen " - How do I reset the phone and start on again ?

/Ole

Try putting it into recovery and doing a restore. That might do it.

Power off
Hold volume down + call button + end call button

Press 'home' once in recovery to restore.

If that fails you can use the 'recovery' mode of update - if its still there. There was some checkbox in the update dialog in NPS to do it.

Worst case put the phone into download mode and try through NPS -

Volume down + OK (center of d pad)) + power

If that doesnt work you might have to use Odin.

I'm guessing we'll see one shortly after the behold II comes out properly (in the nest 6 to 7 days). They're probably saving the update for a big release on that first.

Default Pcs 1.4.0.ik1

Thank you for the link to PCS 1.4.0.IK1,

It made a big difference for me, Now I can connect to the phone, and actually select my phone in calendar and contacts, however it is has an error while synchronizing, one is "out of memory on the phone? not likely as it is empy :-), but not until 30-40 seconds, so it seems as something is synchronizing. much better than before where the PCS sais "not a supported phone".

To conclude Samsung New PC Studio 1.4.0.IK1 still is not working with GT-i7500, but with another, more confusing error message. It sounds no better to me. I'm waiting for "newer" New PC Studio

It does not work for spanish phones too. All i noticed is that if you run NPSMitsBinaryUpgrade.exe, it needs more battery to allow you to update.

if someone is curious about a newer firmware version:

nandroid-backup_firmware_i7500XXIJ1.zip

I know it's not a via-NPS firmware update, and posting it here could be a bit confusing, but it's the closest one to a "new firmware" that I found

Hello guys!
I've been reading you guys for a couple of days and I just wrote myself into this forum to find out the problem I'm having with my brand new Samsung Galaxy.

Samsung started to sell this cellphone here in Brazil and I'm having a lot of issues due to the old firmware.
All the problems related on this forum I observed on my cellphone:
1- Battery does not take more than 10 hours almost in stand by mode;
2- Lock bottom does not work after I make a dial;
3- Phone reseting randomly;

I'´ve been trying to update the firmware but I always receive a message related to server problems.
Doing the *#1234# sequence I found my firmware is completely out-dated:

PDA: I7500LVIII3
PHONE: I7500LVIII3
CSC: I7500LZVVII3

My big question is: Can I update the firmware using Odin?
Am I going to face problems with the language, region keyboard and my cell operator?

Thanks a lot for your patience, guys!
Hope to find my awnsers with you!
Regards

I cannot say for sure if you will face problems with your network operator.

Which language do you need? UK firmware has multiple localizations.

Hi, Informale! Thanks for your help.

I need brazilian portuguese language support to my galaxy.
My biggest concern is about the operator. Is it possible to have incompatible firmware between Operators?
Can I just run the UK firmware and install the brazilian portuguese package latter?

Do you know how to do this?

I really appreciate your help, my friend!

What do you mean by package?

When updating, you can ignore the CSC file, which is operator customizations - mainly predefined bookmarks in the Browser, but may be your operator has something else. WARNING! I do not know possible implication of not installing your operator's customizations.

Also, be aware. Check if your phone is i7500, not i7500L (like the one sold in Canada).

As for the language, there is Portuguese (dunno how different it is from Brazilian) in IK4. You won't be able to install the exact language you want into UK firmware.

UPDATE:
you can make some kind of backup with nandroid using custom recovery, but I don't think you'll be able to restore the phone to its original state with this backup. You'll most probably need the files for the version of the firmware you have now installed.

I never use the Operators customizations... They are crap for me!
I belive I will have to setup the 3G connection by myself if I flash the phone, right?

I just got the phone box to see the model.... Yes, it's a i7500L... Is it bad or good? What is the difference?

I do not have problem to have everything in english, but it's nice to have a virtual keyboard with portuguese style. (can be the Portugal "ugly" portuguese as well).
Is it possible to have the portuguese keyboard?

I'm sorry filling you with a bunch of questions... But I'm completely noob with Android and Smartphone in general.

its likely someone with the canadian/brazil build hardware will come up with a solution as its still pretty much the same, just the radio stack thats different.

all is not lost
