Default wifi connection lost after screen lock, and can't regain connection after unlock

Hi

If my screen locks while I have a wifi connection, then the connection is lost when I unlock the phone.

First, is this perhaps deliberate, to save power?

Also, either way, when I unlock the screen and go into wifi settings, I see that the phone is trying to make a wifi connection, but it never succeeds, even though it's my home network and I'm in the same room as the router. It just states 'Obtaining address...' Any thoughts?

Mine (sometimes) does the same. I've only had it a few days so im no expert but 1 workaround is to use the wifi toggle widget to turn the wifi on and off.

I turn it off habitually when im not using it and back on when i need it so theres little waiting around.

Just came across this too, should solve it but bear in mind the extra battery useage,

Go to Menu > Settings > Wireless Controls > Wi-Fi Settings > Push the hard Menu button > Advanced > Select Wi-Fi Sleep Policy and & one of the following:
When screen turns off
Never when plugged in
Never

It's a coincedence i was just reading this blog:

This Android Life

and found it on there. It makes me think i should go back through most of the stuff i have set up and try long presses and the menu button everywhere just to find what might be hiding away !

it's a bug, because waking up should reconnect the phone to ap without user intervention. let's hope it'll be fixed.

The strange thing about this bug is that it doesn't always happen.

I get a proper reconnect more often than not. And I can't seem to pinpoint the cause.

I think its a bug too. It happens when I walk out of my wifi range, i.e. it doesn't re-connect when walking back in to range.. just need to toggle wifi off and on to get it back. My setting is 'never' turn it off.

There are few similar issues reported;

Anyone willing to submit ticket with exact problems we're experiencing?
