How to connect my pc to the internet using Galaxy?
Hi all!
Is there anyway to connect a PC to the web using my Galaxy's data connection? Do I understand correctly that I have to use NPS?Is it the only way? Even after downloading the latest version it still says my "Device is not supported" and I can't access that option.

you can make standard dial up connection, like any else (select samsung as phone modem) but you will have problems with connection (traying to connect serval times).
1) Install OpenVPN on the host. I use version 2.1_rc15, but any version should work. Apparently if you use version 2.0 you'll need to remove the NO_DELAY option from the AziLink.ovpn configuration file. You can find OpenVPN at: http://openvpn.net/index.php/downloads.html
2) Enable USB debugging on the phone. From the home screen, this is under Settings>Applications>Development>USB debugging.
3) Install the Android USB driver (if you don't already have one installed). See Developing on a Device | Android Developers for more information. The driver is included in the ADB download if you don't want to get the full SDK.
4) Install the program. You can either use ADB to install by typing "adb install azilink.apk" with the file in the current directory, or you can browse (on the phone!) to: http://lfx.org/azilink/azilink.apk
Either way you might need to allow installation from unknown sources under Settings>Applications>Unknown Sources.
Configuration steps:
1) On the host, run "adb forward tcp:41927 tcp:41927" to set up port forwarding. Be sure to use adb from the Android 1.1 or 1.5 SDK! The version from 1.0 will lock up under heavy load. If you don't want to download the entire SDK, you can get a copy of ADB+drivers from the download section.
2) On the phone, run AziLink and make sure "Service active" is checked.
3) Right click AziLink.ovpn on the host (not in the web browser!) and select "Start OpenVPN on this configuration file." You can find this file in the download section. If you're using Linux or, god forbid, MacOS, you'll also need to manually set the nameserver to 192.168.56.1 (the phone's NAT IP address). This address is automatically forwarded to the phone's current DNS server.
I'm sorry, as someone who uses adb and openvpn on a regular basis, it seemed very easy to me. I suppose compared to a simple dialup connection as can be used with other phones, it is very complex.
Well, I have manged to connect my I7500 to internet on ATT network using standard USB modem driver.
I have ..G8 ROM version on Galaxy, phone is not rooted; Windows Vista
Here is how I did it:
1. Install NPC. (I got latest version from German O2 site, search this forum for link). NPC never worked properly for me but it installs ton of drivers, including modem driver.
2. My settings on Galaxy: USB debugging mode - ON; Mass Storage Only - OFF
3. Connect phone via USB, let it auto install all relevant drivers
In Device Manger, you should now see Samsung USB Modem device.
4. Create new dial up connection using Samsung USB modem with following data for ATT network:
phone number = *99#
username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
password: CINGULAR1
Voila, happy browsing! (if only you i could do 3G on ATT
Has anyone had any success with teatherbot??? I cant get this to work, but would be interested to know if anyone else had. If you did, what firmware/csc etc have you got? What did you do different to the Gude linked to here??

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Wireless Tether for Root Users. It comes standard with the Galaxo and GalaxHero ROMs, and it's trivial to connect: start the app, hit the Wifi button, and the Galaxy becomes a wireless access point. You don't need NPS or a USB cable.
Of course, you do need to install one of these custom ROMs, but they're awesome to have anyway. I use GalaxHero, which is exactly like Galaxo, but with an HTC Hero-like skin.

Doesn't work, can't install proper drivers. I've tried everything they have advised in their help files.
Try unplugging all unnecessary usb devices before installing the PDANET. I couldn't get it to install until I unplugged my scanner and Bluetooth usb dongle then plugged it into one of the primary USB ports (on the back of the computer, not on the front or on a peripheral device). I am guessing that the galaxy is a real power hog and needs all the juice it can get from the USB port.
