Default Samsung Infuse Won't Charge

My phone won't charge. It will only recognize the charger for a second, and only when I basically cram the charger into it. Once I let go it says it's not charging. I can't just set it down and let it charge. Anyone else have this problem or know a solution? Thanks!

did you try a different outlet? a different charger? usb cable?

sometimes the voltages just aren't right with particular chargers/sockets...

Laugh ...if Samsung Infuse doesn't charge

I had the same problem a couple of times and what I did to solve it was:

1)took the battery out and put it into the frezzer for 5 minutes,
2) after that y let the battery over a heat surface until warm or try heating the battery with a hair dryer.
3) then re install the battery into your Samsung Infuse and plug it to the charger or usb cable.
Good luck! It worked in my Infuse

I don't suggest this at all lol...

If the battery is suspected to be bad..go in to a store and have it tested and replaced...the phone is under warranty.

from what I understand, lithium batteries do not respond well at all to what you are suggesting and quite honestly...someone could be injured if the thing were to explode.

I don't know that this would happen, it just isn't a good idea lol...the phone has not even been out for a year

so far nearly every case I have seen of the phone not charging is a bad charger or usb port....cheap cables etc...

even in my case it was a generic wall cable that was not intended for this phone.

Default Leaning towards a lemon

I have had three Infuse phones so far and I will be taking this back to Best Buy as well. Each time the phone has just stopped charging. I just hope this one lasts long enough for the GS2 to come out.

A little history:
The first time I didn't notice it wasn't charging and the battery died. Every time I would try to plug it in it register the battery like it was going to start charging and never did. These last two times I have caught the phone not charging. If I turn the phone off and then plug in the charger, the phone doesn't show the battery throbber. Instead, it will power on and continue not charging.

I have been having the same problem with the Infuse not charging. I've tried alllllll the possible ways to charge the damn thing and still no luck, until now. I accidentally discovered that with the phone off, and plugged into my laptop, that it would charge as long as the connection didn't turn the phone on. This luck is useless because there is so way to tell how much the phone has been charged or any indication that the charge is even happening. I have to turn the phone back on, go into the settings and look at how much charge the battery has left...

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having this problem, I'll be going to the store tomorrow to tell them to give me a new phone, probably not the Infuse.

that is odd indeed...while off, and charging, pressing the volume keys should display a battery meter on the screen

My infuse first had the problem a few weeks ago, where it wouldnt charge at all. but i eventually got it to charge from my computer and also, i can charge it from the wall once the battery gets below ten percent. but if i unplug it during the charging process it will not continue to charge and i have to wait until it is under 10 % once again. it is now having difficulty charging from the computer, my computer however recognizes that it is plugged into it. no other chargers work and my charger works for other phones so it is not my cable or charger. i dont have a warranty for my phone, so am i just sol?

mine did the same thing. i went to att and they trouble shooted it. they found that the port seemed to be acting up. so they ordered me a replacement. when the replacement came in, it was a refurbished phone.
now my original infuse is charging with no problem. i dont feel all that comfy about sending back my original phone as it is working properly now. does anybody have any suggestions?

Is this the Charger that came with your phone? I've read numerous threads about people not being able to use chargers from older phones, or that the cord will transfer data but not Charge. If you think that's a possibility the cords sell for real cheap on amazon/ebay. I've seen people buy them and this fix there issue.

indeed...I would say 99% of the time this is the case. 1% of the time it is an issue with the port

well...if they found an issue with the port...it could be loose...at the time right now it may have re positioned itself..who knows when it may come loose again.

you could always send them back the refurb and let them know your phone is working..but call them first.

just know that in the future you might have to go through the process again

Kiss Samsung Infuse 4G won't charge

I took the 45 seconds to register so that I too could document that my Infuse won't charge any longer and it's a mere 45 days old. AT&T's solution is to send me out a new battery saying mine is defective. Personally, I think it is a port problem and they will have to replace the phone.

I am using the original charger that came with the phone and tested several outlets with no success. I was capable of tethering to the computer once to charge it, and now that does not work either. Frustrating to say the least.

Frustrating indeed...uncommon no

htc has had the same issues on their devices. reall bummer about mass produced products....there is error and failure rates/chances

but thats why we have warranties

just sucks when you are the one that gets a bad apple ;( i went through five Evos before getting a good one

Default Samsung Infuse

I worked for a cell company for almost 2 years and saw this sort of thing frequently. Yesterday my Infuse stopped charging. I panicked and then remembered my training. There are many things it could be and here are some ideas. If there is no water damage and the phone is in relatively good condition this problem could be:

1. A software problem: you can go to the SAMSUNG KIES website to update to the latest firmware which can sometimes fix the issue.

2. A cable problem: switch out and try another charger or another wall socket.

3. Heat/Overcharge: sometimes if you over heat or over charge your phone, the battery will stop taking a charge. You can usually tell if the battery has a swollen appearance and is no longer a flat surface.

4. USB connection issue: Under Settings>Applications> Development or USB settings, sometimes the settings are incorrect and changing these can help your phone to connect better.

5. The charging port: sometimes the manufacturer uses cheap parts to make the phones i.e. the charging port. In this case you may have to fight with the company a little bit in order to get a new phone or repairs on the current through a private party. I would advise against a "refurbished" phone.

Overall this seems like a common quirk amongst these phones, which is unfortunate. I have been pretty unhappy with the charging/battery life of my phone but overall the phone is a great device and I am happy with all the other issues. Good luck to you all with it!

My husband has the same problem and we found it that it was the adapter, not the usb cable but the adapter. Its the part that actually plugs into the wall. You'll probably need a new one.

Default Samsung Infuse will not charge

Here is my story, Any input would be greatly appreciated. My son bought the infuse 3 months ago. Well now when he goes to charge it it's starts to charge then quits. You have to leave it in one spot and not move it for it to stay charging. We have tried three different chargers on it and they all do the samething. If he uses his car charger it works. At&t has sent us a new phone and it did the same exact thing. We sent the new phone back and we bought a new battery and that didnt help either. So I called At&t back and they want me to take it to my local At&t store and have them look at it. I am just sure they are not going to know anything about them, all they do is sell phones. Sould I keep fighting with At&t, buy more chargers maybe get lucky and one will work? I thought of buying the charger that you put the battery in it and plug it into the wall, but like my son said he does not want to take the back off the phone and exchange batteries all the time, and I dont blame him.
So please give me any suggestions you might have to help us. Thanks
P.S. AT&T acts like they have never heard of this problem, sounds like to me their is alot of people out there with the same issues.

This is the exact same thing that is happening to my phone. First just the car charger wouldn't work. Then the wall charger wouldn't work. Then I could charge it with my computer and now that just stopped working too. And when I do plug it in it cuts on long enough to tell me that it's battery is too low then dies.

I just tried using debug mode under development and so far my phone is successfully charging when connected to my computer again. Still doesn't work in the car or on the wall. All of it came with my phone when I bought it. I'm quite frazzled with this.

Had the same sort of problems. First car charger wouldn't work, then wall charger, finally having problems with USB port. Called AT&T and they wanted to send me a new battery. Probably should have taken them up on that and gotten a free battery, but I'm concerned that soon I won't be able to charge the phone at all. Took me 30 mins last night to get it to charge from the USB. I convinced AT&T that it wasn't the battery since the battery works just fine when I do finally get it charged. My son also has an Infuse and has not had aany problems. Seems like a mfg defect to me.

I had the same problem with my 1st infuse, it wouldn't hardly charge in the wall and after plugging it into the computer it would charge on the pc and the wall, but AT&T ordered me a new one or refurbished and now it charges but sometimes i have to restart my phone for it to work. I always charge with the wall and half the time my phone thinks its plugged in a computer which i think is a little odd but still charges fine. I wouldnt really call this a problem just a pain in the ass. I also get a stupid insufficient space error message when on the market but is ok after clearing data/cache and restarting. after that i am able to dl one app but would have to do it again to dl another.

Hey all, this happened to my Infuse that I bought in July. All of a sudden one day it would not charge from the wall, or car. My pc also does not recognize it as well. Went through all kinds of troubleshooting to try and figure out what could be the problem. My conclusion is that it is a defective port, and ATT is mailing me a new one. If this is a recurring problem, I am worried that I am going to go through this all over again. It is taking ATT a week just to mail me a new phone. This downtime is ridiculous and I might just sell the one they send to me and go a different rout. I have never had a phones Mini USB or micro USB ever die on me. The fact that it went out after a few weeks is really sad.

good luck guys!

Ok, from what i have gleened from many people across all mini usb smartphones,
1 charger takes a dump.
2 phone port takes a dump.

After talking to a few people about this issue att\hlth care engeneers "they deal with this alot"

the most prominant issue with the mini usb charger\port is missuse,,,,
many have stated people tend to jamb the charge plugin upside down which lossens the port and or use phone while charging, which wiggles plug and port
<phone in use while charging causes the batt to heat up> now that issue happens with all phones.
second thing ive been told is due to the fragile nature of smart/dumb phones intterupting charges also can damage internal transisters,

this happens with all these stupid phones htc apple samsung lg pantech but predominatly the mini usb!

so far i have had no issue have had infuse since june 15th so far had one issue and it was ME! lol

hope this enlightens people a lil, im sue this isnt the end all be all answer,
but as most people in here are used to smartphones a lot are new users and fail to realize they basicly have a mini tablet/computer and need to treat it as such. And not treat it as a flip phone!

my won't charge with a car charger or adapter, it only charge througth a USB hook up to a computer and it only charge with the mini usb cable that it came with.

I DID A FACTORY RESET DATA AND ALL IS WELL. " WARNING, SAVE ALL YOUR DATA/FILES THAT YOU DO NOT WANT IT TO BE ERASE" !

Unhappy Suddenly stopped charging

I've also just started having the same problem - phone no longer charges when plugged in. The only strange behavior I've seen prior to this event was that the phone, while plugged in to the wall, recently displayed the data menu as if it thought it was plugged into a computer. I ignored it and removed it from the charger when it was finished. The following day (today) the phone wouldn't recognize the charger. I've attempted the following troubleshooting steps:

1) Turned the phone off and back on - no change in results
2) Took plug, cord, and phone and tried a different outlet - no change in results
3) Attempted to charge from a USB port - no change in results
4) Removed battery and put back in, powered the phone on - no change in results
5) Attempted to charge while phone was off - phone turned on and still wouldn't charge.

I have a separate charger and cord at work that I'll also try to verify it's not the cord/plug.

I really like this phone, so, I certainly hope it's not a defect. Reading above, I think I should be preparing for the worst.

Mad Still no luck

Got to work and tried with no luck. Called the ATT support center and went through the 20 questions with them. They're insisting on sending me a new battery which kind of irritates me given that it hasn't helped anybody here. Worse yet - they act as if they have no idea this issue happens. Oh well, at least I have a back-up phone I can plug in while I wait.

My phone did the same thing. I had it for a week and it stopped charging, so I took it back and they gave me a new one, but now a few weeks later it is happening again. It is a shame, because it is a great phone!

Mine just recently started doing the same thing. However I think it was caused by using a charger other than the one that came with my phone. I used a friend'd cable from their Samsung Galaxy... which I figured would be fine, but it wasn't. I noticed after a while it wasnt charging. I tried various outlets, then took the usb cable off the wall adapter and plugged it into my laptop and it started charging, but it wouldn't recognize it, so i couldn't transfter files. Once I got to work and started charging it on my original charger @ work, it charged but again, didnt recognize it. I took it off for about 10 minutes, then it did read it & I was able to transfer some files. Kind of annoying that it's hit or miss, but whatever.

Default Samsung Infuse

I've had this phone since June and it charged just fine in the begining, but a few weeks later it would just charge off and on. I've had to send my phone into samsung twice to try and fix the problem, but it looks like it is still having an issue, it's just not as bad as it was. It still doesn't charge every time I put the charger in, maybe I need to try a new charger. So annoying! I really like this phone, but it's no good if it doesn't have any power! ugggh... Shouldn't all micro usb chargers work for this phone?!

Default Samsung Infuse plays music when connected to car via USB

Hi Guys,

I also had the same problem with my Samsung Infuse. But i came up with a solution,

Make sure your car stereo system is switched off.
Connect the phone to the car via USB.
When prompted, select the option 'Mass Storage'.
Wait till the phone gets Connected.
Now switch on your car stereo then it loads the music player.
Enjoy the music.

Turn it off, then remove the battery. Replace it in a little, for me it resets the battery, like the phone instead of going off what it recognized it before it re reads it. It may be lower then before, but still lol it resets the settings. Try it.

This started happening to me today. I purchased my phone on 10/15, so it hasn't been too long at all. I thought it was my wall charger, so I purchased a new wall cord. Same thing. I was able to get it to charge from the PC.

I found that I can power off and power back on my phone, and the wall charger will charge it. Once I unplug it, I need to turn it off and back on again before it recognizes the wall charger.

I see me stopping by my AT&T shop Monday...

Default having problems getting my Infuse to charge

I think I will start calling this the "samsung confuse" rather than the "samsung infuse," because I am so confused as to why this phone I have had since August 16, 2011 will NOT accept a charge. I was thrilled when I first got this phone. I had been using an iphone since 2008; while iphone had somewhat served me well for a few years, I thought it was time to move on to a phone that didn't drop my signal everytime.

Now...my phone doesn't drop my signal....but....when I gently attach the phone charger, it refuses to work. It lights up and makes a noise indicating that the charger has been connected, then I slightly move my this MOBILE device, and the charger disconnects. I guess if I wanted to have my phone glued to a cord I would be using an old phone with the spiral cord, but that is not the case. Usually to get it to charge I have to take the battery out, let it restart, and then re-try the charge.

Needless to say this is extremely annoying and frustrating.

That is odd, maybe try flashing a rom.

Argue with att, nothing we can do unless you get another battery which may just fix it.

Rate this Phone:

AT&T introduced the world to a 4.5 inch near-beast. With a different processor here and more RAM there, this could have been their Galaxy S II. Instead, it's closer to a Galaxy S phone than anything. It has a beefier 1.2GHz single-core Humm... Read More
