Default Unroot before upgrading to GB?

I haven't been able to upgrade to GB with my infuse, is this because i need to unroot my phone first or is my phone not rooted properly?

Hello and welcome to the forums skaterboi509 - thanks for joining!

It's never a good idea to accept an OTA update when rooted... it can leave you with a lot of issues!

If you want to have stock GB, then you would have to unroot - I am not actually familiar with your phone, but I am sure that one of our members who have the Infuse 4G will be able to offer some advice

I know of two ways:

Option 1 - Heimdall
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081

Option 2 - Flash in CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508619

In all cases you need to be careful to read everything before starting. May not hurt to read the FAQ's on the xda Infuse forums.

Option 1 seems most recommended on XDA. It involves hooking phone to computer. I did successfully complete that after I had soft-bricked my phone. But it was not a smooth road.. ended up needing to ask a lot of questions and took about 3 days to get it to work. Seems like lots of others have problems as well but eventually get it to work.

Option 2 seems easier. Not as much interconnection with PC which seems to cause many of the problems in option 1 (usb port problems, driver problems etc). There was some mention of how to fix video afterwards... I didn't quite understand that part.

Whenever you mess with your phone in these ways there is some risk you may end up
regretting it. I take no responsibility...

AT&T introduced the world to a 4.5 inch near-beast. With a different processor here and more RAM there, this could have been their Galaxy S II. Instead, it's closer to a Galaxy S phone than anything. It has a beefier 1.2GHz single-core Humm... Read More
