You can get a screen protector if you're worried about scratching it, but I've had mine for months and not a single scratch. Unless you're planning on sliding it across counters and tables, screen down, it shouldn't matter. Of course, I make sure to never put keys, change, or my lighter in the same pocket as my phone.
As for a case for your pocket, I don't think you need that either. Always put it in your pocket with the screen facing your leg, that way if you run into something with your thigh you won't have to worry as much about cracking it.
Unless you're planning to be pro wrestling or trampoline belly flopping with it in your pocket, I think it probably doesn't need any extra protection.
