samsung mesmerize lights up randomly for no reason
my mesmerize lights up by itself for no reason. there are no new notifications no texts no calls no voicemails no facebook.... please tell me why my phones screen randomly lights up for no apprent reason. HELP.
Mine does too, but it's generally in areas of low signal. When the network reconnects, the screen lights up. Bad thing is, the low network signal strength combined with the screen backlight kills the battery quickly!

While it doesn't really make sense sometimes, its usually nothing to get too worked up about. It could be a background process running (like email or facebook, etc) or something else, and it was enough to "wake" the phone temporarily.
Well that explains that. I figured it was something to do with running process and/or signal going in and out. It happens more frequently at home where reception is less than satisfactory.
It can get annoying, however, when you're sitting there with your phone in front of you and all of a sudden it lights up. You lean over to see what is about to take place; a phone call? A text message? An email?
Nope. Just the phone saying "I'm still here."
I did have the sleep of death the other day, though. =/
screen lights up for no reason
here is the answer : go to task manager salect ram and clear the mamory
hey i did the clear mamory thing under the directions above.. but it lit up within 3 minutes again. battery is still being drained. this happened to my initial phone and i took it into the u.s. cellular store. they wiped it clean twice and i still had the problem. the one i have now is a refurbished one they sent. it's doing the same thing with only 3-4 uploaded apps versus the maybe 15-20 on my old phone. what could possibly be the problem?

It's not just your phone, My LG Venice does it also & I have no idea what it could be. My guess is like others said - Low to no signal, background app like facebook, email or whatever "checks" periodically for new updates.
