Rock Player

There is a new Avi/Divx player called Rockplayer...it is in beta, but I understand that people have gotten it to work on the EVO and other phones and are very happy with it...I have tried it on the Moment and it does not work...just restarts when I go to play an AVI file. Has anyone had better luck?

Haven't tried it yet on my moment but my brother says it does work well on his evo. May try it tonight when I get home and can put some movies on the sd card.

Are you using the public beta (announced here: www.diffthink.com • View topic - RockPlayer first public BETA release The announce mentioned it requires VFP (floating point processor).

How does one get Rockplayer to open avi by default (i.e from file browser)? Currently when I click on an avi, I'm prompted if I want to open with "Movies or View Video". Neither of those two can play the AVI. If I open it from within Rockplayer it works perfectly. HTC EVO.

Hey guys, I got a nooby question.
I got recommended this media player by a friend but all it seems to do is attempt to install a Gamespy Service. Is this normal?

I use videora on my pc to convert video files to mp4. Then shoot them to the phone. Works great.

so for the ppl that got this working on the moment, how'd yah do it? I can get it to install but it keeps fc ing everytime

What phone are you using?
It works without any tweaking on my Desire. Just browse to the video, and play.

hey hi,
It depends on the apk that you have.. i downloaded the apk file from a couple of places for my xperia x10 mini and faced the same problem.. But then i went to another link which had the apk named as..RockPlayer_0.2.8_Beta_v6_vfp.apk...and voila!! This worked really well.. I ve become a fan

I don't remember the link.. If there is some way to attach( i don't know yet) i can give that file to you..!!

hi i cant get the player to play the taking back my love video by enrique eglias..
I tried in wmv and flv formats..
The video and audio go out of sync and audio is lost..
I dont have a lot of details regarding the codec type.. but giving whatever i could find from my windows system..
672 kbps bit rate 16 bit sample size 2 channel audio 44khz audio sample rate

for video
598 kbps and 24 bit sample...

Could the developers tell me what the problem is .. and can it be fixed in later versions..

On my moment I downloaded rockplayer from my laptop,trans to the phone, then used Astro to open it up. Im pretty sure its not the best advise but it worked for me.I tried getting it to open up without the Astro and didnt work. Had to install Astro first then use that to open it up. The only issues i get is the sound will cut in and out at random during my movie. I have "Gamer" on there right now in Divx format. Plays just fine. Has never force closed or given me any issues. Got about 15 apps on the phone and running launcher pro. Just thought I put my two cents in

i downloaded this, loaded an .avi and IT PLAYS!!!!!!!!!!!
FINALLY .avi support!!! no more wasting time looking for .mp4 or converting for meeeee.....

Sounds like the player just has good taste in music and refuses to play it. Just kidding!!!

Copy it to your windows machine and play it there. If it works fine, then, yeah, send a note to the devs about it. VLC (VideoLAN - VLC: Free streaming and multimedia solutions for all OS!) will play it if you don't have a player that will on your PC.

I installed it on my Samsung Galaxy S and it is EXCELENT!
Plays avi, rmvb, mpeg, mp4, flv, supports subtitles, and it it smooth and fast!!!

Too Bad it displays a "R" on top left of the video while playback.
