Thanks. That's what I originally did and it didn't fix it. I found the answer though by going to Settings, Locale and Text and changed the settings in the keyboard section there.

What type of email are you trying to use? A work account? Gmail, Yahoo?

I'm using yahoo I tried using the email program alredy installed with phone but when I try to connet it say cannot connect to srever. When I try again it say that either username or password is wrong, but I know that they are both right

This is a Google phone so they pretty much do what they can to limit you to Google. The phone is not really set up for Yahoo. I haven't even bothered.

However, if you go to the first post in this thread if will give you a work around. Also, there are other posts later on (and in other threads as well) that will give you other possible solutions. If you have Yahoo Plus you can route that to your gmail account I believe.

No matter what though you will need to create a google account if you plan to use the Market to download apps.

I just installed Open Home, which allows 3, 5 or 7 home screens. So far, I like it a lot. There have been a few oddities, but they have inevitably ended up being a poor understanding on my part...

I could never find the app for aHome, just lots of themes. I read in a not necessarily reliable source, that aHome had been removed from the Market. Supposedly replaced by FreshFace (both by mAPPn, Inc.?).

This is a great FAQ. It hs helped so far, especially on the Yahoo front. It would be nice if I can access two different Gmail accts on here without having to use the mail client.

Was wondering something along these lines myself. I have my SD card set up so each of my folders are ARTIST > ALBUM and would like to make a playlist for each album without having to choose each individual song from the "Unknown" list on the phone.

Ideally, I'd like to create my own .m3u (if that's what this uses for playlists) on my computer and just copy it over to the phone.

We are never going to see 1.6 on our devices, Sprint / Samsung has stated that we are going to be getting an update to 2.1 sometime in the first half of this year.

I'm finding this function to be very glitchy, or at least finicky, indeed, in the web browser. (I'm working on wordpress and keep accidentally triggering suggestions like, "Do you want to save this image"--evidently referring to the format of the web page. Or accidentally triggering the editing window before I'm done.)

As I understand it you: 1. select a spot for the cursor to start. 2. open up select text. 3. move the cursor, via arrows (or maybe trackpad thing; haven't tried it) to the end of the text you want to select.

Do you then hit the "copy" function? (If you want to, say, copy?) And then copy again once you have the cursor in the new location?

Maybe I just need to put in some more time, but I just spent a fruitless half-hour trying to edit a simple blog post.

Only sort of: I use Doubletwist, a free desktop application that (I think) works as a sort of parasite on your iTunes library. I can keep albums together if I create playlists based on those albums, and then use the playlist function on the Moment. Otherwise I run into the problem you did.

I've seen suggestions elsewhere that involve tagging all of your songs and movements (i.e., in classical pieces, which can be especially vexing to keep together), but I haven't tried that.

I may never find out, since I got gde and it's terrific. Adjustable from 3 to 7 pages, settable default page, cool cube effect, works with existing wallpapers, stable, reliable, easy to configure - excellent.

Okay, I decided to go purchase the Samsung Moment. I asked them to go ahead and load the Moment Update.

I'm embarrassed to ask, but how (where) do I determine if the Moment Update was done? I know it was covered in the "official moment update" thread, but I searched and failed to find that info. I'm asking it here because I reckon it will soon become a FAQ.

Menu - Settings - About phone - scroll down and look at Baseband version and Build number - both should refer to "CL14".

i cleared gmail and gmail storage data and rebooted my phone but when i open market it does not ask for a new mail account and opens like before showing all the applications, etc. Also when i open gmail app, it says "your email will appear shortly" showing "waiting for sync" at the top. it doesnt even load my previous email after a very long time also. please help me what to do here. i really need to change my account..

What to do if your kid gets ahold of your phone, locks you out through too many incorrect patterns, and for some reason your phone isn't accepting your gmail login.

Call your phone, do not answer it. Hang up the phone you're calling with while pressing your home key repeatedly.

This does not fix your lock out, rather you'll have to disable your pattern lock to avoid having it happen again. Otherwise, if your screen just goes into timeout, you'll have to open your phone.

Luckily, I got my phone yesterday, so restoring it to factory defaults wasn't that big of a deal. Sadly, I don't think there's a way around restoring it to factory defaults to fix this problem. Sprint will tell you it takes a Sprint Tech to do this, and most customer service people have no clue about any of this.

Quick question. I just saved all of my photos from my memory card to my computer, I just unmounted my sd card to format it to erase the data. Is there anyway that I can resave the photos to my sd card?

I guess they removed the way to change these shortcuts in the settings menu, but you can still change the shortcuts and the menu for changing them still exists.

Using the applications AnyCut or BetterCut, you can get to this settings menu.

You can also use the program "Task Switcher" which includes a shortcut to the settings menu.

Just re-mount the sd card and copy the photos back to it from the PC.

so i've tried plugging my moment in to my laptop so i can get it to CL14. but its not detected...at all... i've tried removing the battery & reinserting it. that didn't work. i restored it to factory settings... i've also tried plugging it into another laptop... did the debugging thing in settings & none of it worked... is there any way you can help me?

All of my music is on my mac. Is there anyway to get files from my mac to my phone? I have tried using blue tooth and my phone says that it can't recognize any of the files.
I have also tried downloading a ring tone in MP3 format and my phone told me is doesn't support MP3.

I finally got fed up with it not working & took it into the Sprint store to have them do it. I was phoneless for 2 hours.
But still hasn't fixed my problem. Even after the factory reset, debugging (checked & unchecked), removing the battery, trying different ports, doing practically anything i've read up to do, hasn't worked

First, to get the Moment to mount on your mac desktop, you have to turn on USB debugging on the phone. (This is the REVERSE of what is true on a windows machine -- there, USB debugging has to be turned off.) To turn on USB debugging, touch Menu, then Settings, then Applications, then Development. USB debugging will be the first item in the list. Make sure the box is checked.

Then, to connect to the Mac, plug your usb cable into the phone and the mac. On the phone, you will see a notice in the notification bar at the top of the screen. Tap to pull down notifications. You should see line that says "USB connected" telling yoiu to select this item in order to copy files to or from your phone. Tap this item. Your phone (actually, your phone's SD card) should then mount and show up on the mac desktop.

From this point you can drag music files from the mac to the phone. But you may find it easier to use a syncing program. One free option is doubleTwist. It does have a mac version and will sync music and playlists -- but I found it to be a bit erratic. I am currently using Missing Sync by MarkSpace -- considerably more expensive. But I had years of experieince with it on my Palm phone and had confidence in the company and it syncs a lot more than just music. There are other options if you do a bit of searching.

The only other caveat is to be sure to dismount the phone from you desktop before unplugging the usb cable. You need to do this on BOTH the phone and the mac. On the mac, drag the phone drive icon to the trash, your use the eject command. On the phone, go to the notification bar, pull it down, and tap to dismount from the mac (and to have the phone remount the sd card.)

Hope this helps get you going.

I just got mine and yes, new moments have version CL14 installed, and apparently is also called cupcake according the the build info on the phone.

"cupcake" is the name that google gave to android 1.5. 1.6 is called "donut"; 2.0/2.1 is called "eclair"; and the next release will be called "FroYo" (frozen yogurt); and the release after that will be called "gingerbread". notice that each release is named in alphabetical order.

Question about the battery life on the moment. My boss has this phone and his battery is low after only a couple of hours like 30% he has two battery readers. One he said is the actual one from the phone itself which looked full then he has the app that give the % of battery left or the hrs of batter left and he goes by that. Does the moment have something that drains the battery working in the background. Or does it just have a poor battery to it?
