Default Bluetooth Problems ?

I am having problems getting the moment to automatically connect to my car's bluetooth .. I can pair it properly and it works but the next time I get in the car it never automatically finds the unit. Turning of/on bluetooth on the phone has no effect. What does work is going into the bluetooth configuration in settings and turning the phone to 'discoverable'. The car then picks it up and it works fine until the next trip.

The phone should not have to be 'discoverable' in my experience. I have had several other phones and the bluetooth has always worked fine in the car so I know it's not the car's system..

Anyone have any ideas or similar experience ? Will probably also call samsung. Overall happy with the phone so far.

Just exchanged my Hero for the Moment yesterday.

I am having the same exact problem you described connecting to my cars handsfree system. It connnects initially, but once the vehicle is turned off you cannot get it back without making discoverable.

The bluetooth worked fine on the hero.

Any ideas?

Few questions.

Do you also have bluetooth headsets and do they have the same issue?

Also what headunits?

I have noticed that the bluetooth remains hidden on the phone at all times when on. I believe this may be the issue though I can't see why if paired it doesn't recognize it. I have a jawbone at home that I am gonna pair this evening since I just got the phoen this mroning here at work. Anyone else know of anything?

got a cheapo motorolla bt headset which worked well with my Q9c. its horrible with this phone. sound quality is garbled with lots of static. also got problems connecting. it would disconnect randomly during calls. also the screen stays lit the whole time with bt during a call. i set the screen to timeout at 30 secs. it just dims and stays on the whole time. is this normal or a bug?

I do not have a headset to see if the problem repeats itself...just the handsfree car device.

Is it possible the headunits are creating new device numbers when being turned off and then back on which is not allowing it to pair because the phone thinks it is a new device trying to pair? What headunits are they? You may want to check the device info when you pair it succesfully and write that down and then when you get it to pair again see if the info matches. If not the headunit is changing info. If it is the same this is a bug in the Bluetooth profile on the phoen that Sprint and Samsung need to resolve.

My headset will only randomly pair with the phone automatically. The majority of the time I find I have to go in and select the device to connect with before it will do it. The sound quality isn't the best I've heard, but it's more than passable (though I know this headset is capabale of much better).

Ok so home now. The phone is almost dead finally after a full day of use. Battery meter is not the worst though dropped quick from full charge and held around 70% most of the day. I have a Jawbone 2 and the sound quality and pairing work. I have paired and un paired several times and no issues. I am curious as to what Bluetooth profiles are on these devices and how they work. My sister also has the new nice plantronics BT headset and no issues reported by her yet either. I also paired to my laptop so I will see how that goes. Wish I had BT in the car to test for you guys!

Every handset I've been involved with has had forum reports of bt pairing issues, particularly with car OEM hands free systems. I know it's a complicated system, but we're 5 years into the bt age and it seems the same problems still exist.

Mysteriously, my car handsfree system now connects everytime.
I did nothing to the phone except powered it down once.

This phone has some major bugs like the hero. Fortunately, they are ones I can deal with since they don't involve the core apps of phone, text, and email.

Do you have WiFi enabled when you are getting garbled sound? I found that if I turn off the WiFi when it isn't connected to anything the BT quality improves drastically.

Since they both use 2.4GHz I'm not surprised.

Default bluetooth problem

I have a Plantronics voyager pro headset that I use with my Moment. If I wander too far from the phone and disconnect, it won't automatically reconnect when I'm back in range. A freind with the Palm Pre and a voyager pro says his will reconnect automatically. Also it will disconnect on it's own after 20 minutes and I'' have to go into settings and manually connect it. Is this just a compatibility issue? Anyone have a bluetooth recommendation for the Moment based on their positive experience?

I discovered something odd today. The bluetooth radio on the phone turned off on its own while paired to my Jawbone after not using it for what I would guess to be 30 mins or so. I had to go back into the settings and turn the BT back on. However it has not had any issues remaining on but not having the Jawbone on. I believe it may be either a setting on the Jawbone to turn off if not used within a certain amount of time. Anyone else able to provide any feedback on this?

Exact same problem - will not automatically pair with head set. Also voice command does not come through headset. Hope this gets addressed soon. If someone knows of an app for this I would appreciate hearing about it.

Are these problems being seen just on the Moment or is it affecting all android phones?

Some of the same issues with them Hero. I also cannot connect 2 phones to my Jabra BT530 anymore. I used to have my work phone, and my Instinct paired at the same time and it would switch to whichever I was using. I cannot do this now. Does anyone have 2 devices or phones connected to your Moment or Hero at the same time that switches as it needs to?
And what are some good A2DP in the ear type BT headsets. I cannot use the headphone type, I have to use the single in your ear type of device.

Same here. Sometimes connects instantaneously (like it should) sometimes it never connects, sometimes it connects after 10 minutes (and the car initially stating the connection failed).

We all keep saying "car" without identifying the make -- wouldn't it be ironic if everyone with this issue was driving cars from the same manufacturer and the fault was on the car side!

I can't seem to send an mp3 from my computer to my Moment. It seems paired, connected, recognized, etc...but my PC gives me a message saying something to the effect of "the device cannot accept files of this type."

This seems like something that should be very basic...along with the limitations of the browser and a few other things it's mind-boggling that my 2006 Treo can do things this 2009 "smart" phone cannot.

I have an 08 Sable with sync. I did have to re-pair once when it wouldn't connect, but otherwise it seems to be connecting fine every time I start the car. It even connected when I left my phone in the house and started the car in the garage about 30 feet away. The audio was slightly choppy, but sounded surprisingly good for the distance.

I have a motorola car speaker and a motorola headset and both connected without problem to my moment. The only thing is when I get in my car and turn my speaker or headset on I have to go to bluetooth and pick the name of the bluetooth I turn on and select it before the phone recognizes it. It will not just connect if I just turn the bluetooth on, I always have to go to the list. I wasn't sure if it was because I had two different bluetooths on my phone but now I am guessing from all of your problems it may be the reason that it just does not connect itself. I don't have to rediscover it, just pick it.

Default Three different BT problems

My Samsung Moment has three different BT problems. If anyone has any solution for any of these, I'd really appreciate it.

1) There are a number of BT devices that it doesn't recognize. For instance, it cannot pair with the BT in my wife's Camry Hybrid, nor can it pair with a cheap Jawbone BT earset that I own.

2) Once it pairs and connects with a BT device (e.g., my Plantronics headset), it will NOT reconnect automatically once it loses the connection. I always have to manually reconnect.

3) It willl occassionally lose the connection with the BT device even when it remains in proximity with the device.

CAN ANYONE BUILD A WIDGET THAT COULD BE USED TO RECONNECT WITH A BT DEVICE? (E.g., press a widget on the main screen that brings up a list of all paired devices that are currently available. Select one and automatically turn on BT and connect.)

Thanks,
Benbimi

Default Bluetooth prob

I have a new 2010 Honda Accord Couple with Handsfree Link. It has connected a few times but this AM, the phone's Bluetooth allowed me to beam one contact and then it rebooted itself with the Android screen, etc. Then when I tried to turn on the phone's Bluetooth, it wouldn't allow me to check the box within the settings menu. VERY frustrating!

Default not consistent here

I recently bought a Moment and have been exploring here and there. I found the BT is not consistent. After pairing with my car radio, it can connect automatically every time when I start the car. But after pairing and using another BT headset, my phone doesn't auto-connect to anything. I have performed factory reset twice. It works again after reseting but stops working when I have multiple BT devices. That's odd! Going to call technical support to complain.

I was having the problem that my bluetooth would not connect unless I went into the wireless settings and selected the device. I reset my phone today and reinstalled most of my apps and everything else. I blanked my pairing history in one of my bluetooth devices (blue ant ST3), and then repaired it. So far, the auto connect has been working. I'm not going to try to add anymore devices until next week at least to see if it continues to work. I've only had the phone for about 6 days, so there wasn't that much to download and configure. I use google for contacts, so that was easy. I figure it took me an hour to get it all done.

I just bought a Samsung Moment for myself today and it seems my old 9xxPlatronics bt is not being recognized by the Moment. It works perfectly fine with my old BB pearl. I've followed the steps mentioned in the Basics Guide, but the BT is not being recognized in any way shape or form. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I've contact Sprint a couple of times about my bluetooth issues, and most recently they told me that I needed to go to a repair center to have my phone checked out. I might take it in today and see what they say.

Mine quit working again on Friday. I called Sprint Customer Service, and the guy told me to make the phone discoverable in the bluetooth settings. I was skeptical that it would help (since it only makes it discoverable for 120 seconds), but it has been working since.

I took my phone to the repair center yesterday. Took them 30-45 minutes, but they fixed my bluetooth issues. They said it was a software glitch and that they had to reload a few things. I can't tell any differences other than the fact that bluetooth works again.

I have been using the Samsinh Instinct for 2 years now and i wanted an upgrade.......
Silly me.....
I have been using the Jawbone 2 headset and i liked how the quality was excellent.
Others including my wife have complained as to the jawbone not connecting itself.
But mine was fine every time every day.
Then i swapped over to the Moment and it pair just fine.
Unless you walk away.
You have to manually connect the Jawbone every time, nothing auto about it.
Cannot blame the jawbone here at all, because it worked perfect until the this Moment.

Turn off the Jawbone, make the moment discoverable and turn the jawbone back on, see if that fixes it. It worked on mine. I have a Blueant ST3, a Plantronics, and a Motorola, and they all work. We know that the Moment has BT issues, but this seemed to work for me. I'm on my 5th day trouble free.

Ok...turned it off, made phone discoverable....
auto connected...
waiting 100 more seconds......
pause.....

i will be right back, walking away from phone to get something from my truck...
leaving the phone here.

Ok i returned and the Jawbone beeped as it conencted.

That's strange that's not how it's supposed to work.
I will let you know tomorrow or the next day if it continues to work like it was designed to.

I know it isn't supposed to work like that too, but it has been. I was prepared to return the phone, but did't know what to get. The Pre sucks (still have one) and I needed full buttons. I'm sick of Blackberries. I'm pretty happy now. Even if I had to make it discoverable once a week, I'd still be ok with that. Glad it worked for you.

UPDATE :
this works great !

CAVEAT:
if you power off the phone you must once again press the make discoverable because a power cycle kills or rests whatever makes the bluetooth work....

if you power off the phone you must once again press the make discoverable because a power cycle kills or rests whatever makes the bluetooth work....
I looks like you may have to do it again after some downloads from the market.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Although I cannot confirm it, I can tell you that has been my experience. I seldom turn off my phone, but if I did yesterday and had to make bluetooth discoverable to make my deviceses auto connect. I can confirm that making the bluetooth discoverable fixes my bluetooth issues. I think that powering down and downloading stuff from the market cause issues and I have to repeat the process, but those are both things I don't do that often, so I'm not complaining. It's only like 4 steps to make the bluetooth discoverable. I'm really liking this phone now.

Default yup

as i stated earlier after a few days...
when you power off the phone or isntall certain apps the bluetooth disconnects.
and you need to press the make discoverable again

and also as a side note the Moment makes my bluetooth battery go dead faster.
noticed this the first day, and the second day and the third day...
only thing i come up with is the phone must talk and outhenticate with the bluetooth more often.

My sister also has the new nice plantronics BT headset and no issues reported by her yet either. I also paired to my laptop so I will see how that goes. Wish I had BT in the car to test for you guys!
I have a Jawbone, it says it's paired to my Droid, I can get the "dial tone" but the nice lady never asks me to "say a command." Any idea what the problem might be?

Does it say it is connected?

Not sure. I know the voice command doesn't work with the moment. Not sure if the droid having 2.0 does or not. That would be the first thing you want to verify with the droid forum guys. Unfortunately we don't have the same android version yet to say it is a comparable test.

I bought a new bluetooth a couple months ago. It has been giving me horrible static every day after the first day it linked. Since then I have run two resets on my phone and repaired with the bluetooth, and every time I get the same thing... Crystal clear perfect conversation after the initial connection, then horrible static every day afterwards. Anyone know how to solve this?

Check to see if your WiFi is on. It seems to work better with it off.
