Just found a new issue.
I do not like the fact that you can turn the phone off (or in airplane mode) while the phone has the lock screen enabled.
It seems like a big hole in the security features on the phone if I have a locater app (ex. that allows me to find it through GPS, or make it scream if it's nearby) that can be easily bypassed by just powering it down (or even worse, putting it in airplane mode).
Imagine that you just realized that your Moment phone had been swiped! You wanted to borrow the phone of the next person you saw, so that you could text a keyword to your phone to engage the GPS/scream location security features. You sent the text, and nothing happens... now what?
Well, if the airplane mode has been enabled, then the thief can try to crack your security code without the worry of the security features being activated!
Sure, the security features can easily be disarmed by removing the battery... but that also removes the purpose and value of the device. The same goes for powering it down. But as soon as the phone is powered back on, it would receive the text and engage the security GPS location features.
Basically, by allowing access to airplane mode while the lock screen is on, it partially defeats the purpose of the lock screen. I think that whenever the lock screen is on, there should be no way to do anything with the phone aside from 1)attempting to put in the code, or 2)pulling the battery.
Repetitive notifications. I am repeatedly getting notifications for items I downloaded yesterday. I downloaded some wallpapers through the dolphin browser, and I've probably received 10-15 repeat notifications of the downloads. Anyone else getting this or know what's going on?

Just noting, I have been following this thread and adding to the list as people list issues that are true software/firmware bugs, but things that seem to be derived from a greater problem that's already listed are going to be left off the list because I think its important to keep the first post focused on the major concerns that might be fixed.
Can't get my camera to function, I click on the icon, black screen, have to hit red end button to get back to home screen, error screen comes up, "Sorry camera malfunctioned" something like that. Press the side Camera button, same thing.
hasn't worked for 5 days now.. GPS hasn't worked for me ever.. Phone is very fast and smooth, but these are the problems I have with my phone, well back to the TP2.
I have called sprint and samsung and they both claim there is no issue with the phone or battery... that this is an isolated incident.. I find that hard to believe considering all the people who have reported problems on the various forums...
Dislikes and Issue list
- Have missed a few calls removing from pouch and slider opening slightly (may be a local issue with mine (loose slider))
- NFL Mobile Live will drop radio broadcast when phone times out
- As mentioned, can't delete messages on Pop accts in default email client
- Triple beep tones (signal loss or roam) annoying, no way to remove or turn off
- When call or any activity is completed and phone locks would be nice to go back to Home menu screen not last one displayed (or option for this)
- Nuance just does not like me even after calibrating, old Voyager phone worked wonderfully ** Seems changing to EXPERT mode fixes it for me!
- Battery life better at the expense of disabling background data
- Needs folder structure defined more clearly so ringtones, alerts and music sort better without guessing, does not seem to follow default Android folder structure *see below
Phone is excellent and hoping for a good result with a 2.0 android update soon.
** My folders had to be setup this way to read tags and avoid putting alarms and ringtones into Music lists for stock Music player:
Root of SDCard:
* create folder call it music and put *.mp3s in there for playback and listing in default music app
* create folder called media, under it create a folder called audio, then under it create folders "Alarms", "Notifications" & "ringtones". Use these for those files and they will auto list for you

Reason: Added Quotes for clarity.
Just to be sure... does everyone's Moment have a slight wiggle-ness to the screen? If I push left/right or even up/down there is a tiny bit of give to it, which I assume is normal.
But it'd make me feel better to confirm that it's normal.

A couple of times now I've pulled my Moment from my pocket and was unable to wake it up. Tried hitting the red button and waiting 5 minutes, tried attaching power cable, tried holding red button down to get the menu. Only resolution was to disconnect power cable and pull the battery.
This may be related to "pocket dialing" that I've run into where apparently some correctly timed button key presses have been able to make repeated phone calls to the last person that I intentionally called. I don't use the screen lock currently.
Maybe I hit a magic combination of key presses that puts the phone in a persistent vegetative state, though it's probably more like a coma since the screen is off.
Is anyone having the problem that your moment thinks it's in airplane mode? So random, as I've turned airplane mode on and off a dozen times and it never grabs the mobile network again, wifi and bluetooth turn back on though. If I hit call wife, it says please exit airplane mode...ARG!
McPace it has happened to more and more of us moment owners. There is a thread for the random airplane mode problem. Plese report it to sprint too. Maybe if more of us report it they will fix it.
People who are having usage issues probably have something enabled to keep the phone from sleeping.
I've tried all different methods with this using spare parts to monitor my usage. And my phone rarely goes over 10% usage when I'm using it most of the day.
I get at least 20 hours on the battery as well in a poor service area.
Yes, the battery meter reads incorrect though. Which is annoying, cause it shuts the keyboard off eventually.

Anyone else have a loose slider in the closed position? Not sure if this is a defect or is normal... in teh open position there is no play on the left or right side but closed they have about a cm play

Accepting knowledge of a cross line problem can lead to liability issues in the future. No company will ever admit there is a "problem" with their product. Unless of course the Government tells them too.
Sprint/Samsung are VERY aware of the problem, trust me. But to be fair, the battery "issue" is what it is. Unfortunately, it's not really a problem. There's a good chance it could never be properly fixed too.
nobody has mentioned any of the camera problems i've read about
i cannot recal them, but i have one of them
you turn the camera on and the screen goes black.

Yes feels a bit uncomfortable, but I believe it's normal.
They've both probably been pointed out elsewhere in the thread (I know at least one has), but two problems I've just had recently:
1) Random airplane mode. I was trying to use some apps last night, and they kept mentioning a problem connecting to whatever. I thought maybe the servers were down for some cleaning. But then later in the day it still wasn't working. Randomly I decided to see if airplane mode was on, and sure enough it was.
2) I woke up this morning and my phone was dead. When I went to bed last night, the battery was yellow, but I only slept for about 6 hours, and I consistently run TaskKiller to shut things down, so I don't know what caused the problem. The last thing I did with the phone last night was installed Quickpedia and Moov, but killed both before going to bed. In any case, I blamed them, and uninstalled both this morning, after charging the phone. (Even if they weren't the reason for the phone dying overnight, they were useless apps to me anyway.)

you don't actually have to create the "media" folder. You can just place the "notifications", "ringtones", and "alarms" folders on the root SD directory and they will work.

True, but it seems some market apps use this folder structure more often, thus creating the media folder reduces the duplicates. Facebook is one app which will create the media folder, and then another notifications one under it. Both ways work, but hopefully this way will reduce confusion.
Watch online ussage report for you min and text messages
uninstalled batterymanager no more airplane mode. My gps thinks im allways in a diffrent country though. I even had been charged by sprint for 24 international text messages that it turns out the wireless network thought i was in a diffrent country when i sent the texts out to people. Most of the cargers were for texing my wife. they did credit my account for me so watch your online ussage report!!!!!!!!!!! Any one having this issue???????????

I'm not laughing at your situation, I'm laughing at the fact that Sprint charged for international texts from a phone in the US. LOL!
Thanks for the heads up. When I buy a new phone though, I always set it so it will not roam. It might limit some of my usage range but it 100% prevents the problem you're talking about.
As for your GPS issue, disable cellular GPS and enable GPS satellite location. It will fix the foreign country bug.
I'm having trouble getting mine to connect to my iMac. Someone suggested toggling the USB debugging on, that didn't work and now it won't connect to a Windows computer either.
Update on this...I tried playing around again and after toggling the USB debugger on and off while plugged into the Mac, it connects now and this morning plugging it in to charge, it popped right up with the alert "USB Connected" under the notifications tab.

When my battery reaches 5% (as reported by battery widget), and I start using the built-in browser my phone freezes and auto resets. This has happened 4-5 times and is really annoying, especially since I know through the BIOS the battery is actually at 30% or so.
Today for the first time, my phone reset at 5% while looking at my list of mp3s in the music app.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is my phone defective?
Sprint hasn't made a firm commitment to an update, but we might get something by March.
Funny thing with Sprint, with the BB OS they were so far behind, then all of sudden they popped an update out there for the 8830 models, that was the most recent of all carriers. haha
the biggest issue i have noticed is the GPS. is there any fix for it? it worked for a day, then it always tells me to move to an open area. i'm driving down the interstate, isn't that enough of an open area? i had sprint flash it at the store, again it worked for about a day. now, it is back to the usual, "move to an open area"
GPS totally gone. WiFi is wacky (on/off/non-existent). Hangs up current call instead of beep when being alerted to an incoming call. Bluetooth is not consistent. Data is sporadic. Screen remains black and has to be reset occasionally. These issues and others are pretty severe...
There must be great competitive pressure to produce a phone quickly rather than efficiently. I'm sold on the potential as much as the features; that is the only thing that keeps me from returning it... today.

I don't know if it's just me but the face and the slider mechanism do not very solid. I pick it up and I can feel it trying to slide open. It's f***ing annoying.
I found this to be true with the rubber type cover in use--it wouldn't 'snap' shut properly and was falling open all the time. I had issues with the cover so I took it back to trade but they were out so I got a harder type and now I hear it click close and it stays closed. Just a thought if you have a cover..maybe it's not allowing it to close properly.

This is happening to a small number of users, myself included. I'm not sure if it's an app we've all installed or what. I too worry that there's something wrong with my phone in general... I seem to get a larger than acceptable number of "error" messages (processes terminating unexpectedly, etc.) and I have AWFUL battery life... but I've also been enjoying the market a bit, so it might be my app addiction screwing with my phone.

put it up on the dash or near a window, not on your console. The signal can't travel down from the GPS satellites thousands of miles and then bend to go around the roof of your car/dashboard. Sometimes you can get a signal without having line of sight to directly overhead, but it's luck.
If you have the GPS Status app, it has a neat feature that lets you point your phone at the strongest Sat signal.

My phone has a tendency to randomly reboot when the battery gets to 5% (but is not actually dead yet). Usually if I'm using Browser.

Something to the post about not being able to d/l things from the market while Wi-Fi is on, I can do that. In fact, I just did. With 8 things. I have Wireless N running in my house, if it matters, though it shouldn't because this phone only goes up to G speeds.

Anywho, d/l with Wi-Fi on works.
have you tried with paid apps? mine always hangs when it's doing the CC verification. Not that I'm buying apps every day. Oh wait... yeah, I am.

Probably because wireless N is backwards compatible with wireless G. So unless you've got your router set to "N" only it should work with "G".
Which curiously I thought it odd the Moment doesn't have the hardware to work with "N" even though it's been approved. Or at least that was what I was told at the Sprint store.
It may have been mentioned before, but I've seemed to notice I lose an internet connection for a bit, whenever I try to download a lot of things.
It's happened twice, but that's enough for me to feel like it's a trend, and I'll see if it continues to happen.
A couple days ago I downloaded probably 7 or 8 apps from the market, and by the 7th or so, it seemed to stall, and not do anything. I killed all the running apps, and then tried to play some of the games I downloaded, and none of them were able to connect to the internet (for high scores, or for the instructions, or whatever else).

Same thing happened again yesterday.
A good piece of advice, don't do that (sorry) Unless you have read through all of the comments on the app that you are DLing, and you specifically note that it runs perfectly (or not at all) with the Samsung Moment, you should DL them 1 at a time. Just in case one of them does something messy, you will have an easier time finding and fixing the issue.
Remember, this is not an iphone with all perfectly compatible software in the market. Android is on many different devices with many different versions, and not everything that you download will operate perfectly (and sometimes may cause glitches). It's the price you pay for a free market, and not being under the thumb of the iEmpire's dictation of what is best for you. You have to be a little more precautious.
I dont know if someone has talked about this yet but my phone screen never cuts off if im on speakerphone or have the headphones plugged in during a call. this is really aggravating because i either have to put the phone in my pocket or put it facedown on a table or in the worst case, put something on top it so the proximity sensor cuts the screen off. But it never times out on its own. is there any way to fix this?

Push End
or change the setting so the screen times itself out.

If i push end it hangs up the call, and i've tried changing the settings. that doesn't work. i'm trying to find out if anyone else has had this problem and what they may have done to fix it.

ohhhhhhh on a call. The screen doesn't turn off for me either, but I think its meant to do that by design, and I dont think that's something they mean to change. you can always use a piece of paper to cover the proximity sensor...
