Default Recovering sms help needed!

Hi

I was wondering if or how to receover a sms message(s) from my phone. I have a samsung moment and accidently deleted a important thread with like a 100 plus messages on it.

I pullled the sim card and tried to pull sms data from that but was not able to find any ( able to find other stuff just not the deleted stuff i was looking for )

Is the deleted text msgs on the phones internal memory? Does anyone know what folders the deleted data would be in? Is this a situation where i would have to root the phone in order to get the info? Thanks for all your help and time!!

Jay
