No problem.
Right, stock phone= good to go. You don't need root for this stuff.
As far as the internet lag goes, is that including when you are in 3G coverage (you have the 'EV' next to the signal bars)? Or just when you have basic data coverage (1x)? If you just have 1x, then that is to be expected...
Or are you talking about when you have a wifi connection? If you are comparing your phone wifi vs your computer's wifi, the phone is not going to match the loading speed of your computer. You could try running as many of your typical websites in their optional mobile version (like this forum), if they have one. I would suggest saving the mobile versions into your bookmarks for easy future access. You could also try Opera browser because it really does load faster, but it's mean .
If you choose to run the setup in open homes' persistent mode, then it may impact your browser. You just need to try out the persistent mode for yourself to see what you prefer.
Also, don't forgot that you don't necessarily have to use open home! I completely forgot to mention this... you should check out the other thread on this forum about the comparisons of the different alternate home apps. The X5 launcher should work with many of them, not just open home. Others may meet your preferences even better than open home. I just use open home because I jumped the gun and bought the full version right after I bought the phone. And I don't care to try the others because I have already put the money into this one

It's been a while since I messed with the home stuff... I think you just launch open home if I recall correctly... Then try hitting the 'home' key on your phone. it should pop up a menu to choose between openhome or the regular home. Check the box at the bottom, then click openhome.
It will look pretty much like the basic setup, except there may be two small symbols on wither side of the screen (a star and a magnifying glass if I recall correctly).
At that point, hit the menu button on your phone. Then hit 'More' and then choose the options you want to mess with... Go to "skins" to apply the skin you downloaded. And go to "Open Home Settings" to do... well... the obvious (settings for open home). Mess around with it and get used to it.
The clock is 'beautiful widgets' in the market. Last time I heard, they had a new skin that resembles the clock I am using. However, the clock that I am specifically using is in a version from a couple months ago. I thought I heard that they still had a flipclock skin for their weather widget, but I could be wrong.

Thanks, found it! I guess if I knew what every settings meant lol? The thing i'm having a problem with is that sometimes it goes back to stock screen? I did checked the box then hit openhome...but sometimes it does go back to stock.
I guess is trial and error? I'm loving the home screens but now i feel i have to much room? lol I will try to find that clock but had no sucess? do you recommend I un-check screebl, openhome or anyother from ATK Advance Task Killer?

Thanks,
Well, if you feel that you have too many home screens, you can go into openhome options and decrease the number of screens. I think you can choose 3,5, or 7.
I'm not sure why it's going back to the stock screen? There may be two reasons. 1- Are you using the free version? And if so, what does the free version explicitly restrict? Is it just a limited trial period or do you also lose options? or 2- Your task killer is killing your open home program, and forcing you back to the stock screen.
I suggest that you get rid of the task killer. I used to use Advanced Task Manager (an app killer program), and it noticeably bogged down my phone. I believe you will find that you phone actually runs more smoothly without it.
Did you get beautiful widgets and you can't find that clock? Or can you just not find beautiful widgets in the market?
If you are going to keep ATK, then you need to place all of the programs I suggested on the ignore list. But again, I suggest at least trying to go without ATK for a couple days and see what you think. You can always reinstall it later.

You're very welcome.
Yeah, you need to make sure that ATk leaves open home alone. That's the reason that you keep getting sent back to the stock home screen. ATK is automatically killing open home.

I had the same thoughts about the trackball. I have always heard that they start sticking after a couple months. It seems that the [apparent] originator of the trackball (blackberry) is even abandoning the trackball in their newer models in exchange for the optical pad.

Yeah, though Android is so customizable (compared to other OSs) that I believe it may suit many more people than most other phones can. I expect to see this android explosion continue, and eventually shadow the iphone in about 3-5 years (the only reason it's not going to be sooner is because extended phone contracts will be inhibiting the reflection of changes in consumer preferences and consumption).

No kidding? Me too! I had that phone for two years before I picked up the Moment. I loved that phone because it was so solid for a slider! It's the reason why I felt so comfortable choosing another Samsung slider phone

I WISH I KNEW! They included those dots in the most recent update (that's why they don't appear in my screen shots), but they didn't include a way to get rid of them! I hate them and want them gone too I guess we have to wait for an update.

Very nice! Except for the Minnesota Wild part j/k I definitely like this kind of background on the Moment because of its vivid AMOLED screen.
I like that ! where can I get the software for it? Is it panda home? I would love to put my calendar on the desktop so I can keep track of my schedule... thanks!

What calendar is that on the screen of you all moment.
If you are talking about the weather/date/time widget, it is Beautiful Widgets. Both the small widget and the large widget is included. I downloaded a skin to change the font.
Using Open Home set at 5 screens. 1st screen MixZing Music Widget/2nd screen Pure Calendar Widget/3rd screen Beautiful Widets, TasKiller, Phone & Messaging apps plus browser/4th screen Contact Shortcuts & photo gallery/5th screen Facebook Widget, Market & frequently used apps.

I am sorry to post here but I have a question I have not been able to find an answer for... I installed a weather widget and ittells me there is not enough room to put it on my desktop...how do I enlarge the desktop so I can use my new widget? do I have to download one of those "change the screen" applications?

You cannot "enlarge your screen" but you can remove widgets to give you space. It sounds like the dimensional setup of the widget does not have room among your icons.
I have two suggestions:
1) read what the dimensions are supposed to be for the widget (it will be <4 X <4) then shift your icons around accordinly to make room for the widget.
2) If the widget does not specify its dimensions, then I suggest taking note of the icons you have on your screen. Then removing all of those icons. Then add the widget to the empty screen, and then add the icons back in to fill the space up as you see fit.
Edit: #1 would actually be less than or equal to 4 in both cases (not just less than).

the same as you get rid of icons. hold down on them on the screen until the phone vibrates and the icon/widget 'lifts up.' then move it down to the app drawer (which is now a waste basket). it doesn't delete anything except for the desktop icon.

The only way to get rid of a widget is to touch and hold down on it (about 2 secs) until it lifts up for you to move it.
I don't understand how you were trying to restore the icons? They will not automatically restore to the position that they were in. You have to open the app drawer, hold down on the app you want, and it will select the app and you will be able to move it around the home screen to wherever you want it.

if you're not quite understanding how to move your icons and widgets around, they have youtube videos with people customizing their home screens. sometimes when you see something you get a better understanding of it

Any good apps to have more than one start page?
Well, if you feel that you have too many home screens, you can go into openhome options and decrease the number of screens. I think you can choose 3,5, or 7.

Looks like Open Home (for the background, search button, launcher and labels), plus Beautiful Widgets (for the clock and maybe the calendar?). And then some type of icon pack.

Thanks that worked. I just gotta play some more with it... I clicked on to have three home pages... How do I elicit the other two?
If you are asking how to add two more, when you go into menu, more, Open Home settings, there should be Number of Screens under user preferences. I personally like mine set to 5 screens. 7 gets to be too much for me. Under that there is an option to set the Main Screen. I have mine set to 3 so that it is the middle screen (out of the 5). At the very bottom of the Open Home Preferences screen you can label each screen if you want. Also, you may want to uncheck the Enable Weather Widget if you aren't using the one that came with OpenHome. That's really all the changes I made to mine. You may want to try out a few skins if you haven't already. Just press, Menu, More, Skins at the top. I use DarkHero.
If you are asking how to get to the other two... you just swipe to the left or right to get to the other home screens.

Just making sure... But are you:
1) holding your finger down on an empty space in the background
2) waiting until the little menu pops up
3) selecting the "widgets" option
4) then selecting the desired widget from that menu?
That's the only way to get the widgets onto you screen.
Anyways, if that is what you are doing... then I suggest going to the market, uninstalling that widget pack, then reinstalling it.
Can I ask what the name of the weather widget?
