Default chompsms not receiving pictures

anyone have a problem not being able to see recieved picture mail?? people send me a photo and sometimes it just makes a recieved txt sound and i see nothing, or i see the image in the little bubble i click it and then it disappears as if i never got it. i can send picture mail just fine and it shows up on both ends as sent/recieved on friends phone. however when they send one it barely ever shows me

It's probably because you have a set limit on the size of the sms/mms set to 300kb by default. Go into the Chompsms options and select unlimited and try again. I had this issue before and once I did that it took care of it.

it can most likely be an issue on how the person is sending the picture. i have major issues from people with iphones sending me mms. and some from verizon. major issues for me are slide shows but there's always a work around. I'll keep you posted if i find any other information

I have this exact same problem going from my Moment to my Wife's Hero or back the other way. I see the image for a second, then it disappears forever. I still haven't figured it out. I even have a rooted Moment with a custom kernel and that still didn't help.

Sorry that this doesn't help you, just wanted to let you know that it happens to others as well. If I find a solution I will come back here and post it.

yea im not sure if its a samsung moment problem or a sprint, but i think its a moment. bc i am on a family plan with 5 other sprint phones i can send a pic to all of them and the one i will send to my phone doesnt work, the phone will vibrate and say new message and stuff, but there just isnt anything there, or it shows the picture for a fraction of a second then vanishes .... really frustrating not being able to recieve images

i've read on a sprint forum that updating the profile under the system update solves the problem...unfortunately every time i try to update it gives me an error. Can anyone try and verify?

I have a very similar problem and didn't want to start a new thread. My Moment doesn't recieve Anything when ppl send me pix. No alert or vibration. Went to sprint store and the Manager was able to send me 2 pix from his HTC Hero but no one else can. I've tried reseting my phone and still can't recieve anything wich doesn't make sense to me as I was originally able to get pix from ppl. What should I do?

I'm not having the issue with Handcent at the moment. I also went in and updated my profile in the phone settings, and also sent a text to 9999 that said Allow All.

Try doing this:

Menu, Settings, About Phone, System Updates, Update Profile. You may want to update your PRL while you are there also.

Also, send a text to 9999 and put Allow All in the text just in case something is blocked (see link for info).

Support - Article

If all else fails, give Handcent a try. I did each of these things and am able to receive pictures now. Not sure which step fixed me. I hope it fixes your issue... good luck!

I just started having this problem in the past week or so. It's odd. I receive nothing (no notice, nothing) on neither the stock messaging nor the Handcent app.

Oddly enough, however, once I sent an MMS to someone, theirs showed up after mine.

By the way, I started having this issue again. So what I did above did not help completely.

Have you tried going to sprint's picturemail website to see if it is at least getting there?

Try going here:

https://pictures.sprintpcs.com/

You may have to set it up if you haven't before. Once you log in, click on the My Messages tab at the top, then click on the Sent Messages tab in the middle. This should show all of your sent messages. If you see it here, then you know that it isn't your phone.

I didn't know that site existed until Joeykrim pointed it out to me on sdx-developers.com.

i decided to try out handcent sms to see if i still get this issue. After 2 weeks i have not been having any issues with mms. So it just might be a chompsms problem. pitty i really liked using chomp but i guess im going to have to stick with handcent.

When I went to Sprint for the 2nd time the guy downloaded an app. killer called Advanced Task Killer Free. He said that the apps were somehow taking up to much something or wether that prevented my Moment from recieving pics. It's been working out fine for the past 2 weeks or so. When there's to much going on the app killer icon pops up in the notification bar. I select all the apps that are shown and, "KILL selected apps."

I've had this same problem. I can confirm that this is NOT a samsung moment problem. My girlfriend also has the moment and she is able to receive images. The only difference is she is using the default sms/mms client that came with the phone.

I've installed handcent and while I do like it, I liked chompsms better. If it works, I'll be using handcent from now.

I had this same issue with handcent. I had to uninstall it and use the default sms software to start getting pictures again. I have since reinstalled handcent hoping updates would fix the issue. Not sure yet about the results.

I had the same issue with Chomp. I went with Handcent and now I'm getting picture's just fine. Not sure what happened in the last update with Chomp. Because a version or two ago I was getting pics just fine.

thanks everyone for the responses .. so after trying everything and then pictures still not working. i removed chomp and installed handcent ... and what do you know it works, so it has to be something with chomps last couple updates ... unfortunatly handcent sux lol, its really slow and buggy ... i guess i'll just have to live with it until 2.1 comes out then i'll go back to chomp and see if it works
