Still can't type an accented letter on the Moment
If you press and hold a letter on the Moment, it should pop up a menu of alternate symbols or letters (such as éèêë for e). This works on the Hero. Someone claimed it worked on their Moment, but the two I've tried (one at Sprint, one at Best Buy) do not do it. I have searched through the settings menus and the owner's manual and have not found a way to enable this feature.
Any suggestions? This is a deal-breaker as I need to be able to type both English and French. I need it to work both on-screen and with hardware keyboard.

What application did you try to enter the text? I composed an email using K-9 Mail app and also tried it in Google Search box. In both cases it worked, and with both physical and on-screen keyboards.

Yes, a bug, the on-screen keyboard is not complete for stock Messaging app. Both keyboards worked successfully on off the Market apps for email, text-messaging, and twitter clients. So this should not be a deal breaker.

@momentoid: are you saying the physical keyboard should be able to produce accents on the *stock* SMS app or not? Because it didn't on the phone.
I wanted to try it in another app, but there didn't seem to be a notepad app and I couldn't add calendar entries or contacts without first signing into a Google account, and I didn't want to do that on the store demo phone.

Both keyboards fail on stock SMS app for accented lettering. However, there are better alternatives for SMS on the Market, and I use 'Handcent SMS' app on which both keyboards work.

Can someone please tell me specifically how the hardware keyboard does the accents (in the apps where it works). Do you:
push and hold letter,
use cursor arrows to make choice,
push something to accept?
Or must you tap the screen to accept?
