Just get me my megavideo and hulu so I can shut up! I want faster UI and more screens for widgets. Give me a better lock screen if you will bigger contact pictures a faster radio for calls less battery drain and ..... matter of fact just gimme the stuff I need to root it and I can get all dat! I want too Damn much! Show me the next full qwerty keyboard Android on the roster. I'm not talking on screen! Can't text this fast on that!
you can get more screens and a better lockscreen without root you just need an alternative home such as pandahome gde or openhome and different lock screen such as lockbot or lock 2.0.
Why would it remove the bejeweled app? The NFL one I can see as Sprint is not renewing the contract with the NFL. But word has it that Sprint is coming out with a different Sprint branded app at the end of the month, so I'm wondering if this caused any delays to the 2.1 release.
I just mentioned it because it is one of the apps that can not be removed...for whatever reason.
I feel like, it's my phone; I should be able to remove what I want.
If you root your phone you can remove that and the other pre-installed apps on your device. I know this is off topic, so if you need help in doing that check out the rooting sub-forum on here.
Device(s): Samsung Epic 4g deodexed and customed to my liking!

Well I used the alternate home apps and they either lag lag lag or force close too often! I was under the impression that they would figure this as a bug or two but I was wrong cause no one else seemed to have these issues! I hate the lock screen thing cause its just the same and two apps fighting to force close is just too much! Compile the sht it takes to make me happy and sht the fck up is what I'll tell them dudes! Oh and hurry up! I said a moment, not all day!
i have been using pandahome for a few months. never force closes on me. i use the bar min of it though. i only use 3 screens. no theme options at all(i like the stock android look) but it comes with sidebars that i don't think i could live without.
pandahome is free in the market, regularly updated, and can use themes from ahome openhome and atleast one more but i don't remember off the top of my head.
Well, I guess we will see how valid the source info is since he says Touch Pro 2 gets WinMo 6.5 on 3/10 tomorrow eventhough that has nothing to do with 2.1 it would imply the accuracy of the sprint email..
Edit: Delivery to Sprint on 3/12
I have a hard enough time keeping up with Moment news, there's no time to keep up with other phones. Did the Touch Pro 2 get it's update? I'm guessing no since this post was pretty far from the current lists.
So has anyone heard this is offical yet or if this is fake?
Sprint did say that 2.1 was coming out early 2nd Quarter so it is quite possible we might see it on the 31st, although it one of those I'll see it to believe it things.
EDIT: What's weird is that we saw a leaked CL14 rom before the official came out, so far there's been nothing regarding 2.1
if it were coming out at the end of the month then i would expect some kind of official announcement by now.
I don't think Sprint does any offcial announcements for updates until it's actually released, on occasion we will see a leaked internal notice a week before it's out.
Either Samsung is almost leak tight or the update may be farther away than we think. Every phone or pda I've owned has had any major system update leak several weeks to several months before the official release. How long has the Hero had unofficial 2.1 now? Maybe Samsung just keeps things closer to the vest than HTC? That's what I'm hoping for because everything being equal, the plain jane Android Moment should get updated before the SenseUI Hero.

yea lol droid had a headstart already being 2.0.1 moment is 1.5 its like seeing a PC get a service pack (vista SP1) vs a computer going from XP to vista then SP1... moment has alot more stuff to get done, droid already has a nice foundation laid as it has 2.0.1
Completely off topic, but the Moto Droid OTA update begins Thursday... So much for the Moment beating the Droid out of the gate for the 2.1 upgrade...
Samsung took over 6 months after the phones release just to develop the tools for the Moment to be updated OTW, OTA is at least a decade away at that pace.
What would a (long overdue) WinMo 6.5 update have to do with the Moment?
The original leak stated that the TP2 would be updated on 3/16 followed by the Hero on 3/26 and the moment on 3/31. The fact that the TP2 got updated lends credence to the other 2 also being updated soon.

Samsung Mobile USA @AlexTweetsHere early or late. no date has been confirmed. we know Q2.

And in a week or two it will be "coming in early Q3 as tweeted earlier"
If we were having a pool, I'd go with June 30th. Actually, I think I'll take Thanksgiving. Now don't get me wrong, I'd rather wait and get a solid update than have them release it buggy and then have to patch it up. OTH, it seems obvious to me with the whole CL14 thing that Samsung has tasked very few resouces to this phone. Even a small bug found in the 2.1 beta could take a long time to fix. The real kicker will be if the Hero gets updated soon and we have to wait 2-3 months, then I will be really pissed off! I hope that I'm entirely wrong and that the update comes out in a week or two.

pandahome gave me problems, lag being the most annoying, I have since switched to GDE and I can say I see very little difference compared to the stock home app, GDE has been running great!
Just saw this update today and am happy to pass it along :
Issue: Unable to download incoming picture notifications
Impacted Phones: HTC Hero™
Fix: Fix will be part of a maintenance release tentatively scheduled for 4/9/10
Notice it says *TENTATIVELY*. This is all the info I have, I assume it will be released for the Moment the same date. If I hear another date, I'll pass it along.

Thank you I will be tentatively holding my breath until then
As much as I love my moment...I'm somewhat upset that it's taking this long to get a plain non altered *Sense, Touchwiz type stuff* to this device. I know our small SDX community is doing what they can to get a functional 2.1
I think I'll just jump ship when the EVO is released...cause this shit is ridiculous. They might as well not post tweets & or announce anything regarding the update for these two phones since they don't know for sure.
Yeah but you bought that car with manual locks.. Would you be so mad if Chevy didn't come in and upgrade you to power locks and windows?
Cell phones are not cars, and updates are expected.
You're right though Samsung is under no compulsion to do upgrades and can choose to let us use the phones as we bought them. Just like we will then be able to choose not to purchase Samsung cell phones in the future, no matter how good the hardware seems.
I'm new to smartphones and actually stumbled into Android. I only got the Hero and Moment because the price was good and the phones looked nice, I never even heard of Android.
That said, I've never had software upgraded on a phone after I bought it and I didn't buy these phones with that expectation. I'd be fine if I never got one. I am happy the Moment got CL14 though, that phone had horrible battery life before that.
The 2.1 update was one of the reasons I got the phone, but I knew that there was no solid date. I'm just hope we get it soon. I think this is a really good phone as is, but the update should make it batter.

First of all, be careful the HTC owners don't string you up for comparing sense and touchwiz. Secondly, be careful us moment users don't string you up for suggesting Samsung put touchwiz on the moment. If Samsung did that I would force Sprint to give me a Hero or I would leave. There is no way I would ever own another touchwiz phone.
Oh no no lol I wasn't comparing sense to touchwiz or implying we get touchwiz. I'm happy that our moments were just plain ol unaltered 1.5, I assumed that would also have made it easier to get an update rolling but gosh it's taking for ever.
I can't believe there are Droid users complaining that they don't have 2.1. Jeebus, that was the first phone in the world available with 2.0...shut your face.

Your post is quite meaningless due to the bolded statement. I actually would have expected an upgrade long before now for the sheer fact I can't stream music. I also expect an upgrade because the version that came on the phone wasn't intended for this phone. I expect an upgrade because this is a young OS and constantly being updated as the OS matures. If this was an already mature OS, I wouldn't expect an upgrade, but it's not. There are still bugs, glitches and deficiencies that need to be addressed as well as functionality some would deem basic based on prior smartphone OS's. And while new updates solve some of these things, they often create more problems elsewhere. It's the old three steps forward, two steps back thing. And as long as they take so many steps back after an update or initial release, they should maintain the phone. Part of this problem (if you want to call it that) is Android is so fractured with each mfg running multiple versions of the OS, stylized to their liking. That means there is a lot more effort to update a phone than if it ran stock vanilla android, and how long does a company want to deal with upgrading when they want to focus on selling their new phones?

Sprint has just added its first full QWERTY Keyboard Android Phone to their lineup with the Samsung Moment. Initially rumored as the "InstinctQ", the Moment rocks an 800 MHz processor - what was the fastest processor in an Android phone a... Read More
