Maybe this is the Moment's upgrade path for Andoid 2.1

Decisions, decisions!

My top 3 phones that I'd sell something expensive for (in no particular order):

O) Google Nexus One
O) HTC Supersonic
O) unnamed WinMobile 7

The Nexus One just looks awesome and like its the best Android experience yet. The Supersonic is 4G right? And on par with everything that the Nexus One can do. And a WinMobile phone with Live Games? Oh, who would not want that!?!

Supersonic looks like it will be a POS IMHO, but I'm the type that has to have a physical keyboard w/ any phone.

hahaha, Covert. Yah is funny I should off known it would off been out there...I did get the alert ~2:30ish. But in case you haven't noticed that I'm from MA...and we've been having some really great weather! Today and Saturday should be around ~70'c...so i was getting my bike ready before I hit the streets...so I posted it once I got inside the house! Priorities...lol

On that note, since I'm a bit of topic..lol If you had to chose from the N1 or Supersonic which one would you choose and why? My understanding is that the N1 was manufactured by HTC anyway? Thanks,

since the N1 for vzw will use the same hardware as the N1 for sprint(bands are the same) has anyone tried activating a vzw N1 on sprint? does the vzw N1 have preinstalled apps?

I like the nexus one (and after owning the moment this long have decided i could live without a physical keyboard if i had to) but I wouldn't buy one till the price comes waaaaay down. Especially since I paid almost $200 for the Moment and now it's being peddled around for $50. Definitely kicking my own ass for that one. This whole 'Moment debacle' has taught me that its not worth the price and hassle to get 'cutting edge' electronics.

Yeah, I saw that too. I also could swear I remember Samsung making an announcement back in Nov/Dec that Android 2.1 would be "coming soon" to the Moment

For kicking my own ass +1
For 'cutting edge' not being worth it +1

Can't wait for the Nexus One to come out. If I had known about this a couple months ago I'd have held off getting the moment, but... looks like my fiance will be getting the moment

Nope, the 30 days counts across all phones you try, plus you gotta pay 'restocking fees' of like $50.

from sprint website.

Exchange policy
  • You get one exchange per 30-day period. Please note that an exchange does not extend the 30-day period.
  • If your device has been activated, there is a $35 restocking fee for all exchanges due at the time of the exchange (Per Hawaii state law, this does not apply Hawaii residents).

I don't keep up with other phones that much. What makes the Nexus One and Supersonic so much cooler than the Moment?

1- The screen sizes are larger
2- The processors are much faster
3- (the greatest benefit) They are not being supported by Samsung.

Edit: To rephrase #3 (since the Moment isn't being supported by Samsung either)
3- They ARE supported by manufacturers OTHER than Samsung.

Enjoy!
The Sprint salesperson I use is testing the Nexus One now and likes it. He estimated availability in June or July but wasn't too sure. He said the Supersonic would be announced soon though.

Both sound like awesome phones, but neither have keyboards so I'm not terribly upset about being "stuck" with the Moment for another 10 months or so.

Not at all. The verbage talks about an "exchange". There is no reason you can't just cancel the account within 30 days and then open up another.....Providing you don't mind losing your cell number.

Yea, your contacts are saved on Google, so any Android phone you got will be easily transferable to. If you wanna go through the hassle, just wait 21 days (or is 20 now?) then just cancel your account and get another one right there in-store. Do it to make the employees mad. XD

If you go to best buy u get 30 days per phone. Just keep exchanging before the 30 days are up. All you pay is the activation fee to sprint, but a simple phone call to customer service can waive that fee.my brother did it for 3 months and 4 phones. I've done it for 2. The only bad thing is that the people at best buy already know your there to exchange your phone and five you weird looks. Lol.

And for those people that want a nexus one or a supersonic, and are not eligible for an uodrade all you need to do is call custumer service and tell them how much u hate your current phone and with the right customer service rep they will give the phone at a very gerous price. If that doesn't work just hang up and call again until u get a rep that gives you what tou want. Trust me it works. I've gotten 3 phones for less than the upgrade price from sprint in less than two years without upgrade eligibility or contract extention. Just be patient and keep calling back. Some Reps are really nice

ok so i went to sprint today to see if they could tell me when i would be able to get the nexus 1 and was told be 2 different people that first off it wouldn't even be available till maybe june or july and that even when it does come out you can't get it at the store you will have to get it online through google.no with that being said not sure if i believe that as when the touch pro 2 was coming out a store rep told me that they wouldn't be caring in store either and now i can goto that same store and pick it up.well if that's the case can i buy one online that's unlocked and have it activated on the sprint network.if i have to get it from google then it would have to be unlocked correct?

Sprint's network doesn't even realize full 3g potential in most places, I'm not worried about a 3g phone on a 4g network failing to keep up.
