I want to do this upgrade to my fone, but I can't get it into download mode, I have do the 2.1 upgrade, I got it into download mode once and I didn't see the download bar on the fone move at all. went back to go back into download mode, and I am having problems getting their the fone boots on by itself, without having to turn it on.
I done this several times, I have called samsung, and they want me to send the fone in for repairs.....lol
I have everything else set up, but I can't get past the fone booting up by itself.
also is it mandatory that I shut of my firewall and virus protection? I am thinking that is the reason that the status bar on my fone didn't get the download. the one time that I did get into download mode.
I was told that something went wrong with my update and that I will have to bring it in to be flashed, go figure I was so close to having all my toys......
once you get the "live wallpaper" update installed, you have to go download them from the market. Only one comes with this update, and it's the Google maps live wallpaper.
on a side note, I did this update 2 weeks ago, and have it working perfectly on my Samsung Moment.

When you get new live wallpapers that didn't come from Market, where do they need to go on the SD card? I've tried assigning them their own folder (Live Wallpapers) but the app doesn't find them.
After I downloaded the Earth one off Market, I checked its location on my SD card & saw that it has its own folder in the root directory. Is that the way all live wallpapers have to be stored?
Thanks for the great info, but I still cannot get the update.zip to go through...
this is what I see on my Moment after I click apply sdcard:update.zip
"# Manual Mode #
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update Package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted."
I have saved the Zip file onto my desktop then copied to the root of my SDCard. What is going on??? So frustrating! lol Help please?
It depends on which recovery youre using.
Boot into recovery and see what it says up top, if it says SDX recovery 3.0.8 or higher, youll need to put the file in sdcard/sdx/zip. SDX recovery 3.0.7 or lower put it in your sdcard but not in a folder. Boot into recovery, choose apply .zip from sd, highlight your choice, hit the trackpad, then hit home button. Hitting anything else will cancel applying your .zip. ANy other problems or questions dont hesitate to ask.
Trying to do this and following the instructions to a T. But when I go to install the OLD CL14 Updater... the link is broken... and I found another one through some searching, but it doesn't give me the icon on my desktop (or in the folder) SWUpdate. I can't do this without it updating...
at what point in the instructions should the phone be plugged in? im a bit confused. The first like 7 steps seem to be referring to the computer ONLY and then it just starts referring to the phone without ever having said something along the lines of Now plug the phone in.
DAMN. I did all of this EXACTLY as the instructions said and not only did it wipe my phone to a fresh install and all my prevous downloads and settings are gone but i have no Live wallpapers option.... what the hell?

I am getting this error as well (and a fully wiped system) and i have no sdk folder, i have the zip in the root and am getting the same exact message that he got.
EDIT: I am really confused as to what happened. I just spent the past 2 hours getting the phone back to my liking reinstalling all my apps and settings. What a waste. It feels like I have a different moment now. Now its very laggy and slow where as it wasn't before my shit was wiped out. This feels like a bad joke.

I thought i did good with the instructions but did not work..soooo i did something wrong obviously lol....the computer didnt have any samsung files on it..its new...so should i just delete everything and start over? Thank you so much for your help!!
Any updates on this? I ran into the same problem and was unable to load live wallpapers.
the Recovery File on the Link is nothing but the Stock sprint file. Can some one please post the correct Recovery file that needs to be replaced in the SWUpgrade\Models\Binary portion of this? I've followed this procedure to a T and i get the same ..

Also, make sure you're either using the old version of the Sprint updater or have hacked or patched or whatever it is to the new version to allow a custom rom flash. The current tool from Sprints website won't flash anything but th stock 2.1.
There are links around for it. It should also be available on SDX's website.

Your data will still be there, it won't be erased. I did this months ago, but find myself rarely using it, it's a quick way to kill a battery, but eh, I can say I have live wallpapers!
You're data will be safe, unless your Micro SDHC card decides to up and die like mine did the other day... can't format it, can't recover nothing on it. Thankfully everything on it is on my computer, but it just kinda sucked that the 16GB card died without warning... but thank you San Disk for your 5 year warranty on those cards.
Update the links please. Found alternate, but after all the trouble, all I did is ending up reverting back to the old 1.5 firmware. LOVELY! So now I have to once again update to the 2.1, and then configure my email, sync, and re-download my apps. All for live wallpaper that Samsung should have included with the update in the first place. Not worth the trouble. Like the 2.1 update, but just not having to apply it twice. PITA. Don't do it.
Update - Some progress, just in not the right direction. File supposed to delete or rename "SPH-M900_MR2_DE03_REL_1.tar" was actually "SPH-M900_CL14_MR". Once made correct change, then flashed to updated 2.1 software, but wallpaper zip update did not take. Stating not verified or signed, meaning that the origional links do not point to the intended files when post origionally started. Just re-flashed phone to same #$%%#$ software as before - 2.1 - stock Samsung update that does not allow hacks such as this one. Either find new forum with updated links or do not try this until links are verified. WASTE OF TIME. Noob or not, if I cannot rely on forum links or "experts" to update, what is the point?

Reason: Update
I'm copying this from another post because I don't want it to get buried. This is for everyone out there having trouble getting Live Wallpapers to work on their Moment.
I'm so hosed. I thought I had the "OLD CL14 INSTALLER", so I went ahead, since the link provided gives a 404. Can you provide a link to the proper "OLD CL14 INSTALLER"? Currently my phone is back to factory defaults! I thought this process was supposed to preserve my config. :-( I now just read the previous post - I wish I would have read it before going through this - looks like I'm in the same (sad) boat as 0cocheese0.

I use this tutorial to root my wife's Moment and it added live wallpaper automatically. In fact it runs faster now and it also allow to make your cell a HotSpot. But beware, this will flash your phone so back up anything you want to save that is not on your SD Card. I think the SamsungMoment_Update file they use is the old one. Wouldn't hurt to try
You will need to download the files below, getting them from the links on the tutorial is a pain. Don't worry I went through the pain in order for you not to go through it
also when put the files it says e-dll is not available, also when i make the process you discribed on my phone it doesn't work it says signature verification failed
could any one put thees files back up again plz or even email me the links grate little phone just think its sad that we have to do this ourselfs . my daughters silly o2 phone has moving wall papers lol feel . i wana root it to. sound like a plan for the battery life and the memory also for the fact the adverts annoy me in angry birds feels like am playing a demo or something alos since im gona root this is ther away too do all this above in in 1 go a walk thru would be very helpful fell free to email me djkaneo@gmail.com thanks
