Connect PC to Stratosphere

I can't seem to be able to get my Stratosphere to connect to my PC (Win XP). I tried using Pdanet and choosing "debugging" but I still get the "USB device not recognized". I'm using the USB from my old Blackberry, could that be the issue? I tried different USB ports and turning on/off the phone with the same results. Any advice?

I think the usb should be fine, I believe that those are more of an industry standard cable and handle the same amount of power and data regards of what device they are connected to.

I am not sure, but is there are WinXP driver needed for PDAnet?

Samsung says no drivers are needed, just use the WinXp drivers but when I check in Device Managers, it says "no driver is installed for this device" I didn't receive a CD or cable with the phone. I just want to update my music. I have DropBox, but I suspect it would take a long time to update music using it?

Well, problem solved. I grabbed another USB and it connected immediately. Than, a Verizon screen popped up with an update to make the phone connect better. I installed it and all of my SC card files are visible. I'll toss that Blackberry USB in my orphan box.

I was just getting ready to say that my stratosphere will not acknowledge any charger/usb other than the original one that came with it. I've even tried an older Samsung charger and it wouldn't work.

Thanks. I found the only one that didn't work was the one sent with my Blackberry. It charged the phone, just didn't recognize it in "Mass Storage" mode. A USB of unknown origin found in my laptop case this morning also worked.

Of course I did get a USB with my phone, it is plugged into the cube wall charger at my desk...(not convenient to remove, so glad I have two others).

On my SD card in the phone, my music is all in a "Blackberry Folder". I guess that was what my Blackberry named it? Can I move/rename it or just let well enough alone. My photos are also in this folder. I have full access to pix/music as is.

I'll get the hang of this Android system sooner or later!

I have an old wall charger that charges my MP3 player and an adapter to make it work for the micro USB on the phones. It didn't work on my LG Ally but does on the Stratosphere (although it appears to charge slower than the regular cable).

But the cable from my Ally doesn't appear to work for the Stratosphere and the MP3 player cable with adapter didn't work for the Ally.

I also remember that with the Ally after the update to Froyo some cables that had worked with the device didn't work.

And sometimes the same cable will work with one device and not with another. Not sure why. Just try them and see what happens.

Must be a natural transition from the Ally to the stratosphere...lol. That was my last phone as well.

About the media thing, I have moved mine around quite a bit, renamed folders, all that stuff and have had no problems. You may need to make sure any music downloading apps you use are pointing to where you ultimately have your music, this will save time and trouble later.

Also...you'll have to tell your media player where to look for your media files...unless it scans everything. I use PowerAmp and have it set top only scan where my music is stored.

Anyway, hope this helps.
