Default Some songs won't play.

I transfered some songs to my SD card, and when I try to play them, I can't. Some songs play though and they all play on Windows Media Player.

DoubleTwist - Just skips the song
Default Music Player - Skips the song/freezes
Google Music Player - I get Music Playback Error

Possible format issue with playback. Maybe the file is not supported with the player you are using?

When I first transfered songs to my SD Card, they all worked fine. Later on I added some more songs and some songs that played before stopped playing.

Ok. try clearing the data from the app in the settings. Then reopen the program and see if it works properly

I can't quite remember how to check, but see if the songs giving you a problem have DRM (Digital Rights Management) set to "Yes". Android won't play anything that has DRM, even if you have unlimited rights to the file.

It's not checked, also sometimes a song won't play but if I keep clicking on it, it starts to play.

As i said before, maybe its the format. Not so much as the format itself, but as the format may be messed up. Somebody probably encoded or decoded something or what not. I use player pro and it works phenomenal. Try player pro and if it still doesnt work, DL another version/copy of that songs. Sorry ur having the issue, dont know how much more i can be helpful. Good luck hope u fix it

Just an update. The playback error might be something on Google's end. I use Google Play music to house and play my library, and have seen the error 5+ times in the last 30 minutes on songs that have never had an issue before.

That happens to me now all the time. The issue I found is any third party music dl and custom ROM. I like you, use other sources to get our music. As our phones (android system) does not fully agree all the time. I was dling the song then move the song to the media folder. Here in lies the problem. This is how I was able to fix the issue.

1. Download the song.
2. Instead of simply moving the new song (file) to the media folder, copy it instead.
3. Leave the original song in the dled folder until you check the song will play.
4. After the song plays, erase the original file.

Since I do that now, everything works as it should. No issues.

If this helped in some small way, don't forget the thanks button.

I get the songs from my computer, they weren't downloaded through third party apps.

Look at the permissions on your computer. Just because the permissions on the song are good for your phone doesn't mean you can play them if your permissions is wrong on your computer.

All the permission boxes are checked on my computer, tried using a different SD Card, same error kept happening. I googled this and a suggestion was to delete Twitter, but I don't have Twitter installed. I downloaded it and uninstalled it and still nothing.

This is a reoccurring issue with roms lately. Don't know why. But in the ctmod thread they suggested downloading winamp, play a song. Then it is suppose to work correctly. I am actually trying this method now and it seems to be working. Been listening now for 6 hours.

I can also confirm that downloading winamp fixes the issue. Not sure if it fully fixes the native player but after i installed winamp i played a few songs from the native one and it did work.

There were times I had issues with music when I was on $hevron, transform, and now Megatron. I have not had the distinct pleasure of using CTmod. I helped with Meagatron (very small part) getting files cause it was made for Boost and they decided to make it for Sprint too. So I may or may not decide on CTmod. Regardless (rambling sorry), I will try and find a possible fix for the issue.

If this helped in anyway don't forget the thanks button.

For everyone with music play back issues. I am in the process of testing something I did. It will be about 24 hours before I am able to fully see the results. I listen to music 8 hours a day while I am at work. I will post my results at around 5:30 - 6:00 pm (est). Please be patient.

I have a solution for the mp3. Don't know about mp4 though as I have none.

http://db.tt/RbcbOXYr

Go to above. Download. Must have root access file manager.

Delete stock music player.
Delete dalvik/cache of music player.
Move downloaded file to /system/app.
Reboot. Hopefully it will work. Let me know.

Saw this thread today as I started having issues this morning.

I've been listening to an audiobook in my truck on the daily commute. I have a Galaxy SII with a 16GB SD card. All my mp3 and ogg files are on the SD card. I have an audio book on the sd card (MP3 format) and it was playing fine yesterday with the stock player (4.0.4, rooted).

Today, when I went to play those files, I would hit play and instantly the player would show a pause.

Going through my songs, some would play, others wouldn't. I rebooted to see if that would fix things - no dice. I cleared the app cache and also the davlik cache. No dice.

Reading this thread, I saw I had Google Music Player on the device. I tried that and it works.

/me scratches head...

So has the issue been fixed? Are you running a custom rom? Who is your carrier?

Ok, I have looked into this because I had the same problem. What I have found is that it is most likely caused by your choice of ROM. There are numerous way around it, but the easiest I have found is the BSPlayer free. It will play all of your songs in all formats. It isn't as pretty or convenient as the Stock Music player and most aftermarket players won't work either, but for some reason this does. I could not get it to play more than about 100 out of like 1000 songs and with the BSPlayer free it will play them all, however, it plays them in their original format, so if you got a song off ******** for instance it will play it as a video, but it still works.

Google Music Player did not solve this problem for me.

Also I have found out it could be your volume if you are on a custom rom. If the volume is set to low then the errors pop up but if you set your media sound to its Max then play your songs it works fine. Adjust volume after song is playing.
