This ROM Rocks, Very easy to flash, There is a new task manager, and swipe now has a mic, Text to speech. Very fast and snappy, IMO this might be the official Rom update beta in the testing phase. Compas is dead on w this. If anyone needs help w this let me know.

Some people on xda say the GPS still sucks with this rom. What is your take on GPS with this ROM?
hey i dont mean to hijack this thread and sorry for asking a noobie question but can you guys tell me how to use odin to flash roms? Is odin better or clockwork mod?
If the rumor is true, the OTA will be out in 7 days, I can wait 7 days for something official!

This is true, I am just curious to know why would android release one in its built. It does not ask if you want to kill a running app, Instead it ask if you want to stop this app.
Device(s): G1(with all the tricks & hacks) , Behold2 , Vibrant(rooted stock 2.1)

It uses the built-in process manager..... its the end result of idiots not understanding the OS, begging for a form of task manager... so it was given to them to shut them up...
Now that being said let's move this NON_windows mobile OS forward...
I saw this last night on XDA. Is it just me or is XDA down right now? There was talk of making a version that can be flashed through recovery.
Yea xda is down. This update rocks. Its fast, smooth, less lag, I/o is faster in quadrant, GPS works awesome, compass is a lot better still needs work, signal is better, has force wcdma option, the accelerometeris perfect and don't need android sensor data.
Just need froyo, oh and Odin is simple to use. A monkey can do it.

Ive watched the walkthrough for odin it doesnt look difficult. Just was looking to use what I was used to. Ill probably give it a shot when I have some time.

Can someone help point in the right direction for how to install Odin on a Mac, then what steps need to be taken to flash a ROM? Thanks ahead of time!
I installed it though Odin3 and it soft bricked my phone. Now I can't get into download mode to flash again. Each time I reboot the phone and type adb reboot download, it only goes back into recovery mode. I have tried all the different combo's with the volume keys and it only will go into recovery mode...... I am hoping a version comes out that can be done via an update.zip file and pushed via ADB.
The password is on xda, I cant remember it though, It did not ask me for a password. Using odin 3_v1.0, There is a zip file on xda you just unzip and drop the pit and tar file in there slots and hit start.
I assume you're using this rom still? If so, what is your Quadrant score?
Just checked it and the score is 936, Oh btw battery life has improved greatly, Also this score is w/o any lag fix, I am just rooted. GPS 12 sats in view locked onto 9. that is a first for me.

Can you tell if Samsung improved the Calendar? I've had trouble with entries I do on the phone not getting to my Google calendar online.
I agree GPS is working and built-in process manager icon is very useful..Yes more samsung New widgets, but I use ADW launcher.
The battery life has improved greatly and by using the task manager to shut down apps running.
I also had trouble getting flashing at first though Odin3 I just could not get into download mode to flash. Each time I reboot the phone and type adb reboot download, it only goes back into recovery mode. I tried all the different combo's with the volume keys and it only will go into recovery mode......Then I remember thinking Hey! i can just type the command on my better terminal.
I always use nandroid backup first.
boot back up
open terminal
type su (enter)
# reboot download (enter)
now you can use Odin to flash this ROM.
i know people have said this improves battery life but does it stay like that or has it gone back to normal battery life (draining fast) after a couple days?
I've been abusing this rom for a couple of days now and yes, the battery life has improved greatly. I really am impressed with this rom as some of the others were just, "eh". I recommend using this rom for anyone who has battery issues, lag issues, or gps issues as this rom will eliminate those problems (at least it did with mine although I didn't have any lag issues).

more details on the battery please! what underlying issue does it exactly resolve which aids in increased battery life. !!! This is great news btw.

I doubt anyone knows for sure what exactly it does to increase battery life but it does somehow.
I used to always leave wifi, bluetooth, and GPS turned off and would enable them as needed.
With this new rom I am now leaving all 3 on and still finishing the day with very near the same level of battery left as before.
I should also add that the new rom came out a few days after I purchased a new car and I have been using the bluetooth audio streaming extensively. Something I never did in my old car/with the old rom. So my usage has also actually increased as I am constantly streaming Slacker Radio now.
I didn't have lagfix installed as I never had a lag problem, but I did have my phone rooted and I just flashed this rom over my rooted stock rom without a hitch.
The Samsung Vibrant is the T-Mobile USA version of the Samsung Galaxy S. It's rockin' a 4 inch Super AmoLED screen, a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, and a crazy 16gb of space for some sweet apps and games.
