Default How to stop apps from popping up?

I'm using cyanogen7 mod on my vibrant, and when I wake up, I see a bunch of apps opened up randomly and there is no individual app setting to not have them open auto.

For example, amazon app store, espn scorecenter, weather channel.
Is there a way to stop these from automatically pop up until I manually click them for use?

I heard about titanium backup freezing, is that what I need? Can you get the premium version off 4share?
