in both linux and windows, right click the script n make it executable

Other than that I had no problems running the cmds as posted. It cant be explained any better than it is

might need to add ./ the the adb shell cmd like so
Code:
./adb shell
And a video wont help if you cant follow the writing instructions, not being mean, just stating facts.

Note: the push script will error copying remount, no biggie I didnt include it and then again on rm /data/local/tmp/ which you can do from cmd like so:
Code:
 adb shell "rm /data/local/tmp/*"
or

Code:
 ./adb shell "rm /data/local/tmp/*"
I edited the OP for this one.

I had to remove the $ from each line in the batch file. Windows doesn't recognize lines starting with a $ to my knowledge. I removed them and got further...

Mine got to:

C:\phone\>adb push remount /data/local/tmp/remount
cannot start 'remount': No such file or directory

Okay... I copied the remount file from the original zip file from the first thread... and that got me past the first error. I guess the remount file wasn't included in the second zip file.

Now, I opened a command prompt and typed adb shell and got to the 3rd command, but it says

cp: not found

This happens for both su and superuser files...

adb does find my phone and seems to be working, as I can type adb devices and see my phone listed.

<sigh>

I even tried creating those directories on the sd-card and manually copying the files over but when I went to chmod it still said no such file or directory so something still ain't right with this... Are we all working with the correct paths here?? Maybe PG's stuff is different from ours or something, but for it to not be working with this many people - it's just not us.....Satan spawned this phone...

i have had the same exact problems as corbryant. the original zip from the other thread led me to the # sign, and i could not type into cmd. on this one tried removing $ signs got further, same as corbryant. the batch file needs to be redone. i am desperate for root, and still no luck.

yea the $ is my bad in the .bat, you can remove the remount line altogether too since you're editing anyway.

I'm in linux. try the edits corbryant did along with remove the remount line. I will look at both scripts again, but I had no problems using the cp cmd in adb shell esp once at the # prompt.

if this is still too hard for you to do manually then i have two options for ya.

1) give up
2) you can click the link in my sig, better had hope PG is around because if im going to walk you through how to root the device step by step or remote in and do it for ya then im gunna charge you for it

this is the two choices i extend to anyone who either cant follow his instructions or open up the batch script and run the commands manually.

Welp, downloaded the new zip and got started. Got allllll the way to the last 3 commands, and got an error... <sigh>

$ /system/xbin/busybox --install -s /system/xbin
/system/xbin/busybox --install -s /system/xbin
link_image[1934]: 5571 missing essential tablesCANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE
$

Is this something happening as a result of all the crap I've already tried throughout all of this?

same zip just follow the directions in the OP.

on the link_image error, just install superuser from the Play Store.

OH! Gotcha! I didn't realize what was going on there for a sec. So that line just installs whatever is in the system/xbin folder?

Okay, so I've installed Superuser from the Play store and had no issues there.

I opened terminal on the Score and typed "su" and got a prompt for root/superuser access and an option to grant/deny it. Before I got an access denied error, I think.

It's rooted, hey?

Yup! That did it. It asked me to grant root rights and then checked for elevated root priv, and went on to the setup. That's just friggin' awesome! The Score-M is rooted!

Someone said something about rooting being a disaster waiting to happen w/o a recovery, so I'm messing with CWM for the Cricket Score, and the page I'm looking at says only to copy the recovery.img to the root of the sd-card and run "flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img"

When I do this, i just get "flash_image: not found" which I don't get. I did use "su" in the terminal before doing the flash_image command.

From a few posts up think you just have to install superuser from the play store.

I posted a thread on how to do that along with all the files needed too

Default My computer

All right, i got the ZTE Score M about two months ago, and since then i have been trying to root it.
Super one click didnt work, then i came upon this.
Everything is fine until i get to typing the commands in the command prompt in step 5.
When i type adb shell, it says adb: permission denied.
This may be a problem with my personal computer, but if it is i havent been able to find it.
Please help?

Hi Yondaime58 and welcome to Android Forums
Uninstall the drivers and the root files and clear out all the temp files on your computer. Then when you download the files again make sure your antivirus is disabled(none of the files will harm your computer but sometimes downloading them with antivirus on corrupt them).
USB debugging is on correct
We need to get your device recognized as an ADB device.
Try the drivers from here:https://www.box.com/shared/ff658b0ab177ab4e3097

It shows your phone in device manager as an ADB device

Just copy and paste from the OP once you are in CMD prompt

Question PATCHED sync_agent NOT found NO ROOT!

is there an alternative method to rooting the score M(etroPCS) after the backdoor patch has been sent to the phone?

i called ZTE to demand root access to my phone, they said.. no can do, youre on your own.. look on the internet, so here I am lol

i have tried EVERYTHING UNDER THE MOON to root this phone, nothing works for the metroPCS score M x500.

sync_agent is NO WHERE to be found in the filesystem on the phone
however, i do see a file called SYNC in the same folder sync_agent is supposed to be

any help appreciated.. trying to learn how to hack the phone myself, but limited basic, bootloader basics have i found on the subject.

i get a $ after ADB SHELL too... never saw #prompt..

i have FULL ADBridge control of the phone, just NO ROOT privledges at all

i can reboot the phone into fastboot/recovery, but it just sits at the android logo
waiting for me to type in something spectacular, i guess.. the only way to get out
of this state is to unplug the battery...

this phone is VERY NICELY LOCKED by the carrier and/or manufacturer (ZTE).
thanks, ZTE for the UNrootable Score M
