I do have two physical devices that I test things on as a backup but I also do emulator testing just to cover my rear in case --GOD FORBID-- one or both of my devices go offline while I am trying to work something out.
Either way I ran my tests on the two physical devices(ZTE Score, Nexus 7)...
I know of some devices having a kind of "Charge Memory" being that if you don't follow a certain way when you first charge them they will be stuck with a maximum battery life of what ever you percent you charged it to in the beginning
