[Verizon] Help needed, I'm cleaning stuff up on my "SD Card"

How do I format the sd portion of the memory? Is there a program that will allow me to "cherry pick" what I want to keep and not? Everything I find just wipes the whole thing. Lost here, any help, or pointed in another direction would be appreciated. Thanks!!
