There should be a Chromebook forum

I can understand not having a Chromebook forum previously, since it was largely only related to Android through the Chrome browser/Google. However, with Chromebooks now having the Playstore available, it would seem that there should be a Chromebook section of the forum.

For those who have bought a Nexus 6P, what other Nexus phones have you owned?

Another thread made me thing of this question: What other Nexus phones have you owned? My 6P (64GB Frost) is shipping now; I've also owned a Nexus 5 and a Galaxy Nexus.

Android 5.1 released for Moto X

Motorola released the update for the retail (carrier free) version of the Moto X (1st Gen) today. You can find the release notes here. This update includes things like being able to use a custom phrase, rather than having to say "Okay Google Now", and now shows multiple notifications from the...

    Rebate issues?

I'm curious if people here are having issues getting rebates from Cricket? On another forum, there are several complaining that their rebates have been denied on the basis that they bought their phone outside the rebate dates -- despite that they actually did buy their phone in the right period...

    Uncarrier 5.0 leaked?

Phone Arena is claiming Uncarrier 5.0 is to include taxes in postpaid rate plans. This would be nice, if true, and seems like it would save most customers 10-20%.

Looks like Target's Brightspot is trying to compete with VM

Target's Brightspot Mobile has introduced a new $35 plan that gives 300 minutes talk, unlimited texting, and 3GB of data before throttling -- very similar, but slightly more data, than Virgin Mobile's $35 plan. Is this plan something that would make you think about switching; particularly...

Deutsche Telekom accepts Softbank's offer to buy T-Mobile

Interesting news out of Japan this morning, reported by Reuters, that Detutshe Telekom has agreed to sell T-Mobile to Softbank. Be interesting to see how this develops, especially since I believe any merger attempt with Sprint will be denied by the FCC/Justice Department.

T-Mobile to rollout LTE in 2G areas

T-Mobile announced today that they will be rolling out LTE in all of the current 2G markets. Half the rollouts are to be finished by the end of the year, with the remainder finished by the middle of next year. Given how the LTE rollout has gone, it wouldn't surprise me to see this completed...

    T-Mobile changing Simple Choice plans

T-Mobile is now offering 1GB high speed data instead of 500MB on the $50 Simple Choice plan, which is pushing the $60 plan up to 3GB high speed data (up from 2.5GB). Where the change isn't so good is that the $70 plan will no longer be unlimited, instead it will be a 5GB high speed data plan...

T-Mobile CEO kicked out of AT&T CEO party

John Legere, T-Mobile's CEO, "crashed" AT&T's CES party, a private Macklemore concert. Apparently Legere had gotten an invitation from Macklemore's agent. After a CNET reported tweeted a picture of him with Legere at the party, AT&T had the T-Mobile CEO removed for "harassing" attendees...

New York Times article on T-Mobile CEO

Nice profile of John Legere in today's New York Times: "Brash C.E.O. Keeps the Giants of Mobile Off Balance". I thought people here might be interested. Good to see Legere and T-Mobile getting some good press.

Is anyone have problems with problems streaming/slow data?

I've been having problems with my T-Mobile data where I have issues trying to stream video, in some ways it appears my speeds are being throttled. Reading on different forums, I'm seeing others having the same issue. In essence, my data speeds start fine but, after a few seconds, they slow to a...

Grandfathered plans going away? And what might this mean for prepaid plans?

It's been reported that T-Mobile is ending many of it's grandfathered plans, in particular plans with limited minutes and texts, and instead offering similar priced plans with unlimited minutes and texts. From what I can tell, they are putting them on current Value Plans at a discounted rates...

Help I'm passing on my TouchPad to a new Android user

I'm giving my TouchPad to my wife, who has never really used a tablet or smartphone before -- so a completely novice user. Before I give it to her, I want to clear the data and reflash Android to the device. Additionally, I still need to flash the A6 chip on the TouchPad. I have a few questions...

    Is anyone using a Launcher?

I'm thinking I want a more traditional Android home page, so I will likely use Apex launcher. I looked at Nova and Go Launcher HD and, at least for the moment, seem to prefer Apex on my Nook. I'm wondering if anyone else is using a launcher and, if so, which one and why?

T-Mobile Prepaid Sim for 99 cents, or maybe free

You can currently get a prepaid SIM card for 99 cents using the promo code "99SIM". Also, when it gets to the payment page the price is showing as $0.00 - so the SIM may be free. Even at 99 cents, this is the lowest price I've seen on a Prepaid SIM since T-Mobile started their Uncarrier...

Looks like the next Android release is still Jellybean

It looks like Key Lime Pie won't be until the fall, at the earliest. Rumor (reported by Android Police) is that the new version to be announced at Google I/O will be Android 4.3. No word yet on what new features will be.

Do we need a Lyca Mobile forum?

I'm curious if we need a Lyca Mobile section in the Android Carriers subsection? Lyca Mobile is a prepaid MVNO, has 30 million customers in 16 countries, and is expanding into the US market. I know I've seen at least one thread in a device forum asking for help setting up the APN for Lyca UK...

Is Samsung trying to be sued by Apple?

Samsung is coming out with it's own Wallet app, that bears a strong resemblance to Apple's Passbook. It is rumored to be a new feature on the SG4. It seems similar enough that I'm sure Apple will sue, which begs the question: Is Samsung wanting to be sued? It's also interesting, since they...
