Android Forums is growing and in need of more guide staff. We will be appointing members as needed in the coming months. The Guide role is primarily organizational, and is not an authoritative position - though it is often considered a stepping stone to the Moderator group.
Who qualifies for staff?
Established Android Forums members with a current post history that shows them to be helpful and friendly* to others.
(*Members with a checkered posting history can still apply with the idea that they are "turning a new leaf". Our experience shows that people who are motivated to change, can. )
Someone who can stay "above the fray" presenting a mature and professional attitude.
Android enthusiasts**.
(**Being a tech savvy root user is helpful but not necessary to the job. The guide usergroup is not primarily the Android Forums help-desk.)
What does a guide do?
Continue to be helpful to members.
Help keep the site organized by moving threads into the right places.
Watch assigned sections for spam, wrongly placed threads/questions.
Group efforts for cleanups.
Monitoring the forum for devices to archive.
Guides are the eyes and ears of moderators, reporting violations of rules and other problems for the moderators to handle.
How do I apply?
Go User CP (control panel)
Click Group Memberships
Click Join Group under usergroup "guides".
In the application section is a place for you to tell us why you want to be a guide. We do read this and take your words into consideration.
Your application will remain in my panel. When staff need guides, your application will be reviewed. If selected, you'll automatically be upgraded to guide and will receive a PM with further instructions.
