Default transfer storage from phone to SD card

My phone is storing all my data and won't allow me to update anything or receive emails anymore. How do I transfer data to my SD Card that is already installed?

App data cannot be transferred to SD without rooting (and even then I'd not recommend it).

If you are on 2.2 or 2.3 you can move apps to SD using the applications menu, but not on android 4.x.

If you have any photos or music in internal storage you can use a file explorer app to move these to SD.

I'd suggest clearing app caches, and looking to see whether any of your apps are using excessive amounts of data which could be cleared up.

It's easier to give a clear answer if we know what phone you have and what android version you are using.

Good luck!
