Default My Android mobile runs too slow

I have Sony Xperia J ST26i with Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 OS

the background apps that run are

Facebook
Twitter (with a home screen widget)
LinkedIn
Skype
Nimbuzz
Avast
DU Battery Saver (with a home screen widget)
Flashlight (home screen Widget only)
Top Contacts (home screen Widget only)
Calendar with active active Facebook sync
MixZing (home screen Widget only)
Advanced Task Killer (with a home screen widget)
News and weather (home screen Widget only)
Daily Expense Manager (home screen Widget only)

my Advanced Task Killer is scheduled to kill apps every 30 minutes and the above apps are always on the ignore list of Task Killer

my battery lasts less than a day

kindly suggest me a better battery saver, app killer and antivirus

and is it advised to use these many widgets?

Thank you,

Helen

Hi Helen,

You will almost certainly save battery by deleting Advanced Task Killer! Here are a couple of articles explaining it.

Droid Den Android Guide: Should I Use a Task Killer
Android Task Killers Explained: What They Do and Why You Shouldn't Use Them

How often you have apps set to sync can be a factor. Check that for all of your running apps, and if some are syncing more often than you really need, increasing the time between syncs will save power.

I run Avast for the anti-theft features, rather than an antivirus. There are no true android viruses, and a bit of care with what you install and where you install from will serve you better in avoiding malware than any security app. If you set it to scan just on app install that will provide some security and use less power than letting it scan every time an app is started.

The main thing is to understand what is actually using your power. Install a proper battery monitor (GSam Battery Monitor is popular here and free), let the phone run for a day then see what is actually using most power. That will help you decide what is worth changing.

Good luck

Hi its me Helen_Cambell ! I couldn't access my old username so had to create a new one to reply here.

Thank you Hadron, i did remove Advanced Task Killer and instantly i found a lot of space that made my phone function faster than before, also installed GSam Battery Monitor and things are quite under control but now I feel like my phone is too usual, unable to feel Android !!

I just thought if i installed Go launcher or may be other ones like Nova I could explore a lot more with my device, I need your suggestions if it would consume battery more.

Am also thinking of purchasing a new mobile around new year (will there be any new releases?), please suggest me one with a better speed and performance please !

Thanks in advance
