Hi, I am using “India-chennai-Airtel” service on my phone, where for internet connectivity I have 3G GPRS settings which were received from Airtel.


Since I don’t want to have internet to be continuously ON, I want to disable the APN whenever I needed. In order to make this happen I have created new APN with Invalid details with APN name as “disable” and this method works good for me for some days but now even if I select invalid APN settings, my phone is getting paired to the internet so I couldn’t disable the internet access whenever I needed,


Kindly suggest me how to make this happen.

On this phone you don't need to create a fake APN, if you want to disable the mobile 2G/3G internet all you have to do is go Menu>Settings>Wireless & networks>Mobile Networks>Data Enabled. Un-check this option whenever you want to disable the internet on your phone.

Thanks for the reply, I tried that option too..But after Locking and Unlocking the phone I found that “Data traffic” gets enabled automatically, I don't know why???...please suggest if you have any other solutions..

It could be setup that way by your phone service provider. I'd suggest to contact them to confirm if there is a different solution that you could try.
