Unhappy Broken Screen on Xperia Play.

I was on a train and watching a YouTube video. After this I locked the screen and put the phone in my pocket, when I took it out again to see the time, the screen had gone beserk and there were coloured pixels and black horizontal lines all over the place. I took the battery out and put it back but it just stayed the same. There aren't any cracks at all and it happened in such a short space of time. What can I do?

What has likely happened is that there is damage to the LCD and not the harder outer section. Whilst the problem may have only appeared at this time the damage can have been for considerably longer. The effect you seeing sounds like what I believe is called "screen bleed" where the fluid from the LCD is bleeding under the outer screen casing. Unfortunately physical damage like this is not something generally covered by the manufacturers warranty but would require repair via and authorised repair agent.
