Default mutimedia docking station

I have the multimedia docking station and i use it to display the clock, but i'v noticed that the clock doesnt stay on unless it's plugged in but i'm worried leaving it plugged it for long periods over night will damage the battery?

any help would be appreciated!

I can clarify that you will cause no harm to the handset leaving it on charge for long periods of time, as the handset will stop charging once it reaches max level, once the handset starts to lose battery it will start charging the device again.
