Default Channels 12 - 14 for 802.11

Anybody know how to get WiFi channels 12, 13, and 14 accessible for 802.11b of 802.11g? I traveled abroad and was not able to get on them.

Unfortunately I do not believe you can, form my understanding this is an Android limit and not specific to your handset. i am more than happy though if there are any other people on here that know different to prove me wrong
