Default Unlock Orange Xperia Ray

Sorry if this is a FAQ - I've done quite a lot of Googling and am bamboozled with all the unlocking services and warnings about using some of them.

Anyway, I have just received a new Xperia Ray which is locked to Orange and we want to use it on the BT network.

What is the best way to unlock it? I don't mind paying a little extra for a safer solution. davinciteam.co.uk seems to be quite well thought of and costs 20 Euros for a SIM unlock.

DavinciTeam | Creative Mobile Phone Applications

Is that the best option?

Unfortunately I can not advise you about non-authorised methods. However as no one else has replied I would have to recommend that you contact the network the phone is locked to and request a network unlocking code to resolve this problem.

Thanks. I didn't realize that Orange would even give an unlocking code. I checked and they do provide an unlocking code for £20.

However, you have to be using the handset for 3 months before they will provide an unlocking code at all.

So I'm still a bit stuck.

The DaVinciTeam web site's "Live Support" always seems to be marked offline, but you can "leave a message" which I did a few days ago. They have not got back to me, which all seems pretty poor support to me.

As far as I can see most unlocking seems to involve installing software on your PC and giving it admin rights which I'm a bit wary of.

If anyone can recommend another trustworthy and helpful unlocking service, I'm all ears.

For how long have you been using this phone? If close to the 3 months (required by Orange) then I'd suggest to wait for that time since is better to get that type of information from the original network provider of the phone than a 3rd party company.
