Default phone display having horizontal lines like old tvs

help!
my beautiful Xperia ray has started showing lines and other fuzzy display
i went to repair guy he said i have to get display changed which is more than half cost of phone!!

Thats a screen problem my friend it happens to everything with a screen after a while of use.Replacement is the only option.How old is your phone?
