HOWTO: Install Missing Android Market on XPERIA X10 Mini - Page 2

I still can't use the Market. When I clicked the Market there is a second white screen and then straight go to the menu. What should I do? I got my phone with 2.1 on it. Anyone? I've cleared cache too.

1) Sorry if it is an obvious question, but where do I get the Vending.apk for X10i (not mini) for 2.0.2.A.0.24 ?

2) As I said on (1) I made the mistake of upgrade to 2.0.2.A.0.24 on the hope that it would install Android Market on upgrade. It happened before I read this tread. Will the procedure work if I use SuperOneClick to root the device ? Other forum said that this aplication can root the 2.0.2.A.0.24

3) Any special care I need to take now that I am with 2.0.2.A.0.24 ?

Hi It worked for me too... Thanks.
But, I got stucked in step 5, I cannot download the file. Then I downloaded it to my PC and copied to SD card,
Then downloaded SlideMe market place and installed file manager from that. then browse SD card and installed UniversalAndroot.

i have xperia x10 mini pro android version 2.1.1.A.0.6
z4root didnt work so i used superoneclick and it said it was rooted but AndRootFile always lags after i say ok to use su command .
i dont think it is really rooted cuz i still cant copy vending to system.
any ideas??
EDIT : problem solved

if u have build 2.1.1.A.0.6
just use superoneclick instead of z4root which can be found here

I had already installed the latest 2.1 update, so was having a heck of a time rooting... I know, I know... but I saw your warning way too late!

HOWEVER! I found one that works!
I used SuperOneClick here, and it worked like a charm: [APP]SuperOneClick v1.6.5 (Root, Unroot, Enable Non-Market App, Get UNLOCK code) - xda-developers
Watch the video tutorial - the instructions make more sense after that.

What Android version are you using? If 2.1, reread the guide because I have updated it with new root instructions. If rooting does not work, search for a different root app.

WARNING: The latest 2.1 update (2.0.2.A.0.24) DISABLES rooting!! If you install this version, you will not be able to root your phone. You will not be able to install the Android Market. DO NOT UPGRADE TO 2.0.2.A.0.24 before installing the Android Market!!

I updated as per the instruction and i was successful but the thing is when i try to download any application it is getting closed

Thanks Crazydip. I have to say that after all the tries from different resources only your post I have had success with. Have a X10Mini with latest Android version. Below are the steps I did to finally get android market working.

1) Backup data (Using restore or backup app)
2) Download EZ file manager from Slideme (You need a file copier to copy Vending.apk to the Root folder)
3) Download and run Superoneclick (I used v1.6.5) in administrator mode
4) Connect the phone with USB Debugging mode
5) Copy vending.apk to Phone card
6) Use Superoneclick to root Phone
7) Using File manager move Vending.apk to /system/app/ (Here where they will ask for root permission.)
8) Run the vending.apk from /system/app/. Should install without any problems
9) Use Superoneclick again to unroot your phone.
10) Remove cable and uncheck USB debugging mode
11) Turn of phone and turn it on again.
At this point when you check in apps you should see the AM. But I had a problem here where android market starts but then closes with an error. I did a hard reset, which involved using companion suite to repair/update the phone. This unfortunalty deletes everything and you will have restore from the back up in step 1. Waiting for the update to finish and crossing my fingers it worked. Now a happy camper with android market. :-)

Hi Crazydip,

I have x10mini... THANKS A LOT for the info... IT WORKS!

But i have a one problem... i have no music in the library after i successfully installed the MARKET... But in my /sdcard/music... it shows that i have music files but it cannot be viewed in library of my default music player...
Why my music player cannot viewed the library files? In addition to this i cannot set a customize ringtone from my music library.

By the way, my X10 mini pro with android 1.6 didn't come with marketplace, but it had an option to upgrade to 2.1. Is it possible that the upgrade will add marketplace to the phone? I didn't want to risk it to find out. Also, if it upgrade now, will marketplace that I installed using this method still be usable?

Thank you so much finally i am able to install market properly and make downloads!
basically the clue for me was to download superoneclick to root the phone, unfortunately because my xperia mini was with the last android version I was able to use ur options to root the phone.
once that was done everything was smothh!!!!!

hi there,
i did all the steps successfully but the market forces close or the download doesnot start anyone knows a solution i tried hard reset but it didnot solve problem just removed all my apps including market and i had to install it again from root explorer .also does anyone knows if the market app updates as it seems like an old version and i dont know how to update it

Hi kind people,I've two problems

1) I recently bought an xperia x10i(android 2.1) from saudi arabia (i reside in india) I dont know if its normal or not but there is no android market in my phone.Also there is no file browser or apk installer.i want to install games and applications and also get android market.What should i do?

2)wenever i restart my phone all the photo's i linked to contacts are being untagged except one contact....what wrong? wat should i do?

i tried to follow the thread but i cudnt much understand it(or id rather say im confused)...as im new to android and hence didnt quite understand

i dont have any data services....should i debrand it or any of u have any easy or better solutions plz share...

Sadly I cant make it work even though I followed your steps but not all of them since my phone is already rooted, I used rootexplorer to transfer the market apk file you provided from my sd to the system/app folder and still I got no luck

I have an xperia x10 mini pro running android 2.1, no mods just rooted

I unwillingly deleted the market app after I have updated it because I thought the update I had contains a malware of some sort sigh

proves Im a klutz

anyway any form of help that you can give me is pretty much appreciated thanks guys!
