I just got off the phone with Rogers Wireless on an unrelaed matter, and I quizzed the Customer Service Rep I was speaking to about the update, his response was
"I just heard today that the update will be in september"
I hope this helps you guys pinpoint a time. I am eagerly awaiting too.

Well I have no idea who "Rogers" are but Im guessing their a phone company and based in Canada?
So it will be down to Sony Ericsson UK and 3 UK (my mobile provider) as to when the UK market get the updates.
I'm hoping the updates will be rolled out globally at the same time but going by Sony Playstation UK we always have to wait at least 2-4 weeks to get anything the rest of the world gets

Well for starters, Sony and Sony-Ericsson are not exactly the same company so comparing release dates for something on, say, the PSN or whatever and something released by SE isn't exactly fair. Secondly, I'll have you know that Canada was the last to receive the PS Video Store (coming July 1st, Canada Day, nice touch, Sony) of the 'major' regions. So, you can't really say that UK gets left last for everything. :P You would think that SE being UK based, the UK would be the first to get this update? At least you get updates; we haven't got any updates in Canada (unless we debrand).
Excited to hear that someone at Rogers said it was coming in September, though.

Muppet everyone who got there phone from a network is in the same boat, i can not update my phone to what the rest of the world have baseband firmware r1fa0016 i have 0014 because of branding... android os update will not/should not fall prey to this nonsense of branding grrrr
The rogers update is rolling out in october according to my carrier info sheets I got yesterday. (I Work with phones, so yeah, I'm a little privy to early info, just a little. )
Just as a confirmation, it's not just a rumor, it's what they are telling us.

the problem is that with the iphone 4 being released soon we need something new with the x10 and now with the htc desire being promised 2.2 in the next couple of weeks it just makes you think what sony are doing and that we need 2.1 then 2.2 quite quickly

Well I'm sure we will be getting some upgrades as promised but every sony ericsson phone I've had has had a poor follow up service and did they not just drop the satio which was there flagship phone a couple of months ago so I don't foresee huge support for the X10 in the future unlike htc or other smart phones.
The sooner the X10 grets rooted the better, I have this phone on a 24 month contact and unless SE pull their finger out there arse then this phone will fall by the wayside and we all get lumbered with an out of date phone.
So far we won't get multi touch and it seems the screen will be forever 65k colours not the 15 million as touted so were already using an outdated phone!
