Default Still No O2 Official Upgrade

This is what was sent to me from SE after I complained about Battery Life only lasting about 16 hrs

Dear Colin,
Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson support centre.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 does support Bluetooth File Transfer.
Files can be transferred from the handset following the instructions below,
- Menu > MediaScape > browse to and open the file you wish to send
- Tap on the envelope icon
- Select Bluetooth
- Your handset should then search for Bluetooth devices in range
- Select the device to send the file to
- Accept the file on the receiving handset
If when sending files via Bluetooth you encounter an error this would suggest a software fault on your handset. Therefore, a software update is recommended.
The release of the latest version of software will depend on your network operators approval of the version.
At present we are still awaiting O2 to approve the version for release on the Sony Ericsson Update Service. As soon as we have received there approval this will be available. However, at present we do not have a specific release date.
There a number of ways to improve the battery life of your Xperia X10 handset. You can try any of the following which should help you gain the most of your handset:

Install a 3rd Party task Killer from the Android Market, this ensures that no applications are running in the background draining your battery.

1. Adjust the backlight timer and brightness, to do so follow these steps:

Menu > Settings > Sounds & Display > Brightness > Adjust accordingly

Menu > Settings > Sounds & Display > Screen Timeout > Adjust accordingly

2.Turn off MMS/Data Usage, this will provide extra power and battery life:

Menu > Settings > Wireless Controls > Mobile Networks > Untick MMS & Data:

3. Enable GSM only, a 3G/HSDPA connection requires high amounts of battery power.

Menu > Settings > Wireless Controls > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > GSM only
The information supplied on our website is a guide to the battery performance. Batttery life will differ depending on usage and network configuration.
However, further improvements will be made in future software releases for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.

Kind Regards,
Paul Fellows

Has anyone from O2 uk been able to update from R2BA016 ---> R2BA023??

I've been trying for a while but with no success. Is unbranding my only option?

Also does unbranding void warrenty?

Dont expect any updates from O2uk. After phoning them they dont have any idea what R2BA023 is, they only repeat we will get the 2.1 update in sep/oct which is no good for me. i wonder if my contract can be cancelled due to their lack of support for my phone??
