Default 2.1 Update Available

Sony Ericsson - Support - Softwaredownloads - Detailed - Updateservice - Xperia? X10

Nevermind. I don't think it's the Android 2.1. I think it's Sony's software 2.1

Its still 1.6

This could actually just be slightly misleading... is this version 2.1 of the UPDATE SERVICE software?

Installed and confirmed its just the Update Service Client.

Did they say that? From most of what I read they seemed to imply 'eventually' rather than 'soon'. Sooner would definitely be better though.

I seem to recall it being a rather non-descript "after launch" (which technically could be September 27, 2039) and not specifying 2.0 or 2.1. At the end of the day, any upgrade is good news for X10 owners, but if you want a 2.1 device, either wait (possibly until 2039) or get hold of a HTC Desire, Legend etc.
