The native browser is part of Android.

Quoting from wikipedia: "The web browser available in Android is based on the open-source WebKit application framework. The browser scores a 93/100 on the Acid3 Test".

I'd let experts comment on benchmarking question.

its using a mobile version of google chrome and I like it better than opera and dolphin. Its faster and its just easier to navigate IMO.

The latest open source search platforms like too are based on the simialr application framework([java-dev] Lucene Application Framework (LARM) - Search by Lucid Imagination). U can get help in understanding the concept ,

I'm bouncing back and forth between Dolphin and Opera Mini.

I have tried both Dolphin and Opera on my X10, and I prefer the default browser.

I myself have been using SkyFire which is pretty quick, it has a lot of great features on it, I was using the default one and then to Opera but now SkyFire.
