Amazon.co.uk is now saying 19th March. I hope this isn't the case with other UK suppliers, such as: Clove, Handtec, Mobilefun Carphone etc.

if i have to wait another week, for this, im cancelling and getting the one x. Sony's doing themselves no favours by putting the release date back.

Are they putting the date back? Some people have got them now, so there are lots of other possible reasons.

Mind you, if you that willing to give up for the sake of a week then perhaps you didn't really want it anyway!

It would be a shame if you cancelled Bay, I know that the size of the XS is pretty much the limit of comfortable hand holding for me, the One X would be too big and I'd have to use 2 hands, hopefully manufacturers will realise this, I don't want to carrying a phablet around with me in a couple of years time.

How would you compare the display to the Galaxy S2? How are you finding the capacitive buttons?

Screen is fantastic! Really couldn't ask for any better! Colours and sharpness are spot on.
Capacitive buttons are an irritation, especially when there is no light as it is a bit hit and hope but I think that it is just a learning curve.

my phone came into the US here in Texas.
Since it is an unlocked phone, my Verizon 4G carrier might not be compatible with this phone. I've talked with a Verizon rep, and he says its not possible to put a 4G micro sim into the Xperia S.

I've cut up my old 4G LTE sim card and test fit it into the Xperia, and it won't recognize the sim

help please

Earlier today I cancelled my order with Clove and purchased it sim-free from phones4u.

Will report back later tonight with my initial thoughts on the XS.

Did you get it for 399, all the stores in my area quoted 529 - I had to buy out of my current contract and take a new contract.

Handtec cant confirm anything at the minute, other than they are awaiting stock from their suppier, and are expecting it tomorrow, but they dont know how many. They have taking the money from my account and they said to cancel the pre-order would take 5 days to refund, thus meaning it will be at least five days before i could go elsewhere.

Hi Jaseuk,

After a weekend playing around with your phone what are your impressions of it? Any views changed? If I get the chance I may get mine tomorrow.

Thanks

Good for you gabby, you'll love it.

Angelus, I'm using it to type this response now and I've just wiped and boxed my 8 month old IPhone 4, does this help you out? B-) yeah it's a bit strange going back to android and relearning the nuances but for now and most prob the next two years I'm gonna be happy using this.

Cheers. It's just the jump to Android from iOS that makes me jittery (even though I'm not a massive fan of Apple). It's just moving to something new, but I do like the sound of the customisation Android offers.

It's weird. It feels strange jumping to a new OS, but before my iPhone no phone I had shared the same OS and I was jumping between manufacturers own OS with every phone I got.

Sorry for sounding dumb, I've not seen the Andoird battery breakdown before (but I like it!).

Does that show that your phone is at 26% after 19h 50m 38s of use? Was the flat bit on the graph at the beginning the phone during the night?

I'm getting the phone sim free now! I decided I didn't want to commit myself to a new 24 month contract so have changed my Vodafone monthly account to pay as you go as it'll work out a lot cheaper for me.

No real surprise that the Vodafone store was no help. They told me to phone them even though I was stood in their store and there were no other customers in there. Fortunately the representative on live chat through their website was very helpful. Didn't try to sell me anything, understood why I wanted to change the contract and sorted it all very quickly.

Buying SIM-free, or prepay if you can get a phone unlocked (or easy to unlock) is the way to go as you now have a load of flexibility.

For example, you might not top-up for a bit (but still receive calls) or you can go on a 30 day rolling contract and when a better tariff comes along, just change - and keep your number.

A little bit of effort over a 24-month contract stealing a fortune from you every month, even when you use it less (and charging you when you use it more) but worth it.

What's more, you can change phones as often as you like.

Anyone that takes the time to grab a calculator or load Excel can sit and work out the cost of ownership and will usually see that it's cheaper to pay up-front.

Unless I get offered an even better and cheaper sim only deal at some point, I can see myself sticking to this for the foreseeable future and just buying a phone whenever one comes out I like.

Just a quick note to say that the Sony Center in Tottenham Court Road (near TCR tube) got their delivery of Xperia S's in this morning. I popped in on the way back from the new iPad launch.

Stupid me forgot to ask how much they were selling them for, but they opened one up and it comes with a second screen protector but NOT any NFC tags.

Still, if anyone is looking for one (SIM-free) then maybe other Sony stores got them too.

The Sony Xperia S doesn’t differ too much from the Ion: it features a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 12MP Exmor R camera sensor, and a 720p display, only here it is 4.3-inches in size. If it looks familiar, it’s because we have seen this... Read More
